Esquiva Falcao

Amateur Highlights:

• Olympic games silver medallist (2012 - losing to Ryota Murata)
• World championship bronze medallist (2011 - losing to Ryota Murata)

Professional Record Summary:

Best opponents (as per BoxRec rating):
• Artur Akavov (20-3: only won one fight in the last 37 months, against an opponent that had previously suffered 24 losses)
• Jesus Antonio Gutierrez Velazquez (27-5-2: was KO'd within two rounds by a journeyman immediately prior to facing Falcao)
• Guido Nicolas Pitto (26-8-2: only won one of the six bouts he's competed in within the last 40 months)

The average Esquiva Falcao opponent (based on his 28 fights) has a professional record of 15 wins, 6 losses and one draw.

Therefore, Esquiva Falcao is the middleweight equivalent of other fighters with horrendously padded records (i.e. Mark De Mori, Arnold Gjergjaj and Christopher Lovejoy).

The Brazilian has done absolutely nothing whatsoever with his career for the last nine years.

I’m not going to say anything other than one word, MISMATCH, because I’ll only be stating the obvious if I’m asked to elaborate!

He was a little slow to wake up to how this crooked business really works, but he's certainly found out now.

It's all about transferring money from the pockets of the fans and sponsors into those of the fighters, the promoters, sanctioning bodies, chemists, athletic commissions, the toothless testing agencies, the referees, judges, and Michael Buffer of course.

Sorry Michael.

If we actually get a decent fight then we can count ourselves very fortunate indeed.

Big numbers, right moves - anything else at this point would indeed be crazy.

Well, G had to build his name first before he got the big money fights. He had a very tough road as a foreign-unknown and very dangerous fighter. He had to collect almost all the big belts at mw to get the top names like Jacobs and of course Canelo. Now he is almost 40 and he's doing the right moves. :TU:

Smart matchups for this stage of the game. He should probably retire after Murata however it goes.

It’s good we agree. So many believe GGG is immune from criticism to the point they intentionally apply double-standards.

It definitely should be a mismatch if he's what he once was or anywhere near it, but I don't blame him for going for the most lucrative mismatch out there at this point.

He's already fought the best, and beat the best, and was robbed twice. Now he needs to just get his money while the getting is good.
