Heavyweights: "Two Ton" Tony Galento vs. Jesse Ferguson

Post by scorpio83 »

10 Rounds Heavyweight Bout

Galento would out-slug Ferguson on the inside to work on the body and nailing him with good left hooks to either decision him or score a late round stoppage or knockout. What do you guys think and who do you got?

Ferguson wasn't special at all, he was a classic journeyman, who barely won a decent fighter. He was awarded a decision in a fight against Douglas, which he should have lost. He became famous because of appearing to be a sorta kryptonite for Mercer. Tony would drink a couple of beers and slug the sh!t out of Jesse.

Galento by late stoppage.

Why do you foresee that outcome? I'm interested in your analysis.

Ferguson was not very good. He was OK earlier in his career, but then slipped a lot. Still Galento was awful. Would have to lean towards Ferguson.

I like "Two Ton" Tony in this fight. He was a rough customer, and was willing to do more to win than Ferguson I think. Ferguson had a height and reach advantage. They're both reasonably tough. I think Galento hit a little harder of the two, and was just more of a "do whatever it takes to win" kinda guy.

I'd favor Galento by decision.

Galento has 10 more losses than Ferguson, but was stopped 1 less time, and he also has 54 more wins than Ferguson, and more KO wins than Ferguson had fights.

Galento was no Beauty Prize winner, but he was a rough and rugged customer.

He didn't hurt Louis several times. In fact, most of the fight he was getting the crap kicked out of him.

Just it once again, still not seeing the several times where Louis was hurt. Hard to tell if Louis he was even hurt from the knockdown. Galento did throw a lot of haymakers and landed a few. Heavyweights used to be like that sometimes. However Louis was often nailing him as he was coming in. The ending was brutal.

You might want to see Galento against Max Baer. Got totally dominated.

that denial though

he rocked him seconds after the first bell ffs.....let me guess, louis's legs never did a jiggle, he never reeled into the corner, and never grabbed on either right

and he floored him....collapsed his legs and put him on his arse with a clean shot and had him holding on right after

he literally lifts joe off his feet around 13:56

countless times joe has to hold after being nailed and driven back, like around 12:40

wasnt an easy night for the great joe louis!!

He certainly had his moments against the great Joe Louis. If you hurt a guy and drop him I don't think there's much debate that you gave him a tough fight.
