Michael Coffie Vs Gerald Washington 31st July

Post by joshj909 »

Good step up for Coffie. Washington is definitely one of the older heavyweights at the moment but Coffie is surprisingly 35 years old. Washington hits hard and had a good win against Helenius not too long ago but Coffie should be able to get a finish if he has any hope of competing at a higher level.

Big fan of this fight. not the highest level, but competitive with the fresher option being a slight favourite.

Washington is soft, I'm still surprised with him KOing Helenius. So, it looks like a proper bigger name challenge for Coffie. I see Coffie knocking Washington out soon enough. So, Coffie vs Washington is a decent matchup now, but I'd rather see Tea vs New York! Sorry for my idiotic humour.

Decent step up for Coffie. He'll have to make another one soon after as time is running out on the big guy. He's 35 and needs to make a move in order to get a big fight.

I don’t know anything about Michael Coffie. His resume stinks, but that's normal for today's protected heavyweight prospects.

The Gerald Washington bout will be a massive step up for him.

A victory will propel him up the heavyweight prospect ratings and probably compel fans to remember his name.

Devon Alexander To Return on July 31, Faces Lucas Santamaria

Boxing Scene has been advised that Devon Alexander (27-6-1) will snap a two-year ring hiatus when he faces Lucas Santamaria (11-2-1) on July 31st at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The fight will be televised by FS1.

As previously reported by Boxing Scene’s Jake Donovan, the main card on FOX will feature Michael Polite Coffie against Gerald Washington in a heavyweight showdown and the Vito Mielnicki Jr.-James Martin rematch. Mielnicki, an u and coming welterweight prospect, suffered an upset loss against Martin on April 17th in Los Angeles in a bout that was also televised by FOX.

Michael Coffie Vs Gerald Washington 31st July (Washington Out; Rice In)

Post by oogiebe »

Gerald Washington has withdrawn from the fight due to COVID. Jonathan Rice to step in. Horrible news as Rice is merely a punching bag waiting to find a soft spot to fall.

Jonathan Rice is complete utter garbage.

The only useful thing about this fight is to determine whether Michael Coffie is capable of stopping Jonathan Rice, even though the allegedly "fearsome" Efe Ajagba couldn't (less than a year ago during the Nigerian's 19th outing).

For the record, Tony Yoka scored a lop-sided six-round decision victory over Jonathan Rice during the Frenchman's second outing as a pro.

Lopsided? One judge had Yoka winning by a close 58-56 score.

Other previous Jonathan Rice loses (below) demonstrate that he's a more than capable enough opponent vs Coffie.

Demsey McKean : Currently 19-0, 12 KO's
Arslanbek Makhmudov : Currently 11-0, 11 KO's
Stephen Shaw : Currently 14-0, 10 KO's'
Con Sheehan : Currently 6-0
