I think it would have been very competitive as well. Bugner sometimes was lackadaisical and if he was against Bonavena that would cost him, though I do think he fought fairly well against Lyle until Lyle pulled out the late rounds.

Bonavena usually lost his biggest fights as well. If they each fought an average fight for the, it would go down to the wire. It would probably be a decent fight to watch and would have some close rounds.

I was more impressed with Oscar than I ever was with Joe but styles do make fights and Bugner could make anybody look like crap because of his cautious approach. I always will think that Oscar got robbed in the first fight he had with Frazier, and I thought he had about a perfect game plan against Ali but simply burned out. But he was a very inconsistent man too.

I think it would be an ugly and sometimes boring fight which could arguably end up as a draw but most likely be a majority or split decision for Oscar simply because he would be the aggressor throughout. Although I must admit I can see Bugner getting the nod as well.

Bugner would win the early rounds and then get lazy. Bonavena pounds out a decision.
