Game Changed?
No.
After all the hype, it was the same old format, only with less content. This is the exact opposite of what Hearn has been selling us for the last 3 months.
The garden looked unprofessional this time around, for example the pre-show event was filmed in what looked like an ikea furniture display and it was set up on a slope which I thought was comical and more than a little embarrassing.
The commentators had a bad night, Lee in particular was way off with his scorecards and the love in for the work Can was doing from both Lloyd and Lee was unfounded and frankly fkin odd.
From the new production team, Laura was the pick of the bunch for me, she settled in like the pro she is. Although there wasn't nearly enough post fight interviews with all the fighters.
Maya hasn't a clue, Bellew was carrying her big time. Talk about easy money - Just show up. Taking of Bellew, he can't hide his bias, even when he is trying as hard as possible to hide it. His reading of the Can fight was miles off. It's not good enough.
The crowd didn't add a lot in my opinion, at times you could hear a pin drop and it was far from a sell out. That's what you get for 750 a go. A bunch of mongs who care more what they look like.
Not enough interviews between rounds, not enough microphones in the corners between rounds to hear what the corners where saying. Nah, it wasn't good.

I haven’t watched yet but I think it was a sellout. A mate tried to get a couple of tickets a week back to see Connor Benn (through his company’s hospitality) but couldn’t get any. I think they only put 200 up for sale for each show.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑01 Aug 2021, 09:27 No.

Re: Game Changed?
Without Benn I thought last night looked the worst week although CBS v Mac was one of the fights I was looking forward to the most.
For £2 I’m not gonna complain. Looking at it it looks like we’ll get the Whyte cards that were usually PPV as part of the subscription. Smith v Fowler is a good fight.
Given we complained about absolutely everything when it’s on Sky and Sky PPV we don’t really have a leg to stand on moaning about a £2 obscure channel. I’m not bothered how many people are watching, why the f uck would I be?

If not many people are watching then no doubt budgets will tighten and the shows will get worse. You add the Benn fight to last night’s show and it’s a really good one so hopefully it continues.jameswilson wrote: ↑01 Aug 2021, 09:52 Without Benn I thought last night looked the worst week although CBS v Mac was one of the fights I was looking forward to the most.

You did not mention the actual fights in any of your paragraphs? What about the boxing? The reason we watch?Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑01 Aug 2021, 09:27 No.

The 750 quid, I mean it's not a normal show its In Hearns back garden.
I doubt he wants to take a chance on any or pissed or coked up thugs causing bother like at normal shows. And it's a pandemic too.

Re: Game Changed?
I thought it was pretty decent. Maya Jama is obviously completely clueless but as long as she sticks to basic presenting duties and lets the pundits do the analysis, then she’ll be fine. Thought Woods and Lee were excellent, even though I disagreed with a lot of Lee’s scoring.
Definitely didn’t seem particularly ‘game-changing’ overall (and there were a few moments where the camera seemed to cut out completely, although might have just been my tablet playing up?) but it’s their first full event so happy to cut them some slack.
Frankly I don’t really care about the presentation anyway, as long as we get regular competitive cards. Certainly not complaining at £2 a month regardless, although I may think long and hard about retaining my subscription if the price increases significantly as expected, will very much depend how their schedule is looking.

Defo not game changing, but entertaining enough. Especially given the current subscription cost.
Agree about Woods. I listen to her on talkSPORT. She gets a lot of stick from their hardcore audience, but is she very effortless and definitely deserves her place.
Bellew and Maya.. not terrible, but not credible either. Meh
Andy Lee sounded a little depressed at times. I was going to send in the counsellor.
The most important thing, the fights, were pretty decent. Enjoyed the top two particularly.
I’d take two of three of those shows a month for a tenner at least.

Potentially. The fights?
Sandy Ryan looked decent, had some nice skills actually, was pleasantly surprised.
Hatton is a rank novice, and watching him whack away on moving punch bags shouldn't be so high up on a card. He should be the freebie on youtube/Facebook.
The Cullen fight was okay, but nothing special due to Yildrim stalking a lot but doing not much else. Pleased for Cullen though.
The Smith McCarthy fight was intense but mostly for the wrong reasons. There was not a lot of skill on show. I think they showed a stat that Smith landed 7% of his jabs thrown. Both where blowing hard after a few rounds.
Fowler beat up someone who shouldn't have been in the ring with him due to the weight difference.
Pleased for Woods, he boxed beautifully, but Xu was either that bad or Woods was that good. Make your own mind up.
I enjoyed the show mostly, but that's because I enjoy boxing anyway. I would have enjoyed this just as much on BT or SKY. The fact that Hearn promised all the extra access to what happens on fight night and then delivered not a lot. That's my point.

Re: Game Changed?
The stream was a complete failure, constant buffering and skipping back to the start of the stream.
As for the production value, usual glitz n glam BS we got from Sky, very little substance.

Re: Game Changed?
Personally I had no issue with the stream, luckily. It was excellent all the way through for me in terms of picture quality.
I have no issue with the likes of Maya or Bellew as I don't tend to listen to presenters or co-presenters anyway, they add nothing. I watch everything Leicester City and would get rid of any presenters for our games that are covered on Sky or BT for the same reason.
Just start whatever the sporting event is with the main and co and save money on the studio nonsense, they talk so much shite it's unbelievable.

Yeah. Pretty spot on round up. I enjoyed the show, Leigh Wood was a revelation to me. Gets hit clean too much but when he’s landing his shots looks great. I watched on a laptop and the definition was really good. I could really see the action and shots. No stupid angles.handsofstone wrote: ↑01 Aug 2021, 14:19Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑01 Aug 2021, 14:12 The fights?

Re: Game Changed?
only thing changed is the cheap price
the card was decent but not outstanding quality....some decent fights but still multiple mismatches and nothing especially riveting.. typical commentary/presenter issues as well. i think its not even the best week of fight camp
averageish for me........which is still worth watching since it's boxing. but hardly anything groundbreaking or totally new that hasnt been seen before. if you watch boxing regularly and watch cards from other countries too, the most unusual thing was prob just that they were fighting in a backyard (although card in mexico last week did the same). the rest is all pretty standard.
if you rank it off the success brit boxers have, with cullen and wood winning, then it gets some bonus points
