He was not in the heavyweight rankings before the fight either. I wonder why?

Cause he's officially rated by Suleiman's idiots in bridgerweight.

So Boxrec is going to officially recognize this badgerweight division?

His weight qualifies him as a Bridgerweight even though he fights as a Heavyweight.
BoxRec don't recognize Bridgerweight so he can't be rated at Bridgerweight but because he qualifies as a Bridgerweight and one of the four or five governing bodies regard him as a Bridgerweight, BoxRec cannot rate him as a Heavyweight even if he does fight at Heavyweight.
Ergo he no longer exists and cannot be rated anywhere.
I think that about sums up the ... er ... logic.

Blaim the wbc. Although babic could still be ranked at heavyweight. Until he has a fight sanctioned at bridgerweight. But my guess is boxrec are protesting Bridger hard and early which I have to support. If boxrec did rank him Babic would probably otherwise be around 50-40th.

It's nuts. Ok BoxRec don't want Bridgerweight fair enough, so rate them as Heavyweights. Babic hasn't even fought in the Bridgerweight division.
It's only the WBC that considers Bridgerweight to be a weight division so do what everybody else does: Ignore it and treat the fighters as Heavyweights. To me that is just commonsense.
Kiwi mate you're missing the point: You can't say there is no such thing as Bridgerweight and then not rate someone because he's a Bridgerweight.
He's a bona fide professional boxer so if you don't rate him here then you have to rate him there. Pretending he has left the planet is the worst of all possible options.

It’s not such a big issue, considering Babic hasn’t beaten anyone noteworthy.
As entertaining as he might be, his resume is complete utter garbage.

He's an entertaining sideshow filler for boxing events. No less, and not much more.
And if you were to rank him as a heavy, he would be top 100.
A better career choice would be to fight as a heavyweight, maybe he will. There are plenty of genuine pleather belts out there.

The question was asked about Babic but that is incidental. It's not about the boxer it's the principle. Let's pretend Rivas was a very active and successful fighter. Would you consider it sensible to deny him a rating ... anywhere?

I agree that bridgerweight should not even exist, and the WBC is a disgrace for creating it.
But Babic has never officially fought at bridgerweight, only at heavyweight.
Is the WBC rating him at bridgerweight a good reason to keep him out of the BoxRec heavyweight rankings? So if the WBC rates, say, Usyk or Hunter at bridgerweight, would they be out of the BoxRec heavyweight ratings?
Or should they only be removed if they fight for the WBC bridgerweight title?

Umm, no I'm not, but Tiny might be.
I agree with your post. But I hate yet another division and more flippin belts.
Like Tiny, I'd love to bury my head and ignore Badgerweight (I've trained my phone to predict that already) all together.

I think the majority of us don't think the Bridgerweight is a great idea. But fact of the matter is it is here and the fighters in that division still deserve to be rated somewhere.
And no one wants more belts. I'd venture to say you wouldn't be able to pawn most belts anymore. Too damn many out there

Do what RING MAGAZINE used to do from 1978-1984 where they listed the cruiserweights as light heavyweights because they did not recognize the cruiserweight division for a couple of years.
The man certainly needs to be ranked as a heavyweight. All of us genuine boxing fans see the man as being a heavyweight because he is 210 pounds, and as far as most of us are concerned anyone 200+ is a heavyweight.
I say continue to pretend that bridgerweight does not exist and rank the man as a heavyweight. Unless his management team has reached out to BoxRec and they don't want him ranked as a heavyweight--- and to do so would result in some sort of legal action against the website.

bridgerweight in fact doesn't exist as far as any real fan of the sport should be concerned.

To be honest, I don’t really pay much attention to BoxRec’s ratings nowadays, due to statistical anomalies produced by their algorithm.
For instance:
• Jared Anderson is currently rated 58th by BoxRec’s heavyweight ratings.
• BoxRec recently rated Gervonta Davis above Josh Taylor at junior welterweight.
• Callum Smith is currently rated 9th in BoxRec's pound-for-pound ratings.
• BoxRec once rated Luis Nery as being sixth on their pound-for-pound ratings.
• BoxRec once rated Jeff Horn amongst the pound-for-pound elite (they ranked him in 9th place).
• Chris Eubank Jr. is currently rated above Vasyl Lomachenko in the BoxRec pound-for-pound ratings.
• Billy Joe Saunders was once rated 4th according to BoxRec's 168lb rankings, before he'd even fought in that weight class.
• Demetrius Andrade was recently rated 11th on BoxRec’s pound-for-pound list.
• Jermall Charlo was recently rated 6th on BoxRec’s pound-for-pound list.
• On the 29th June 2021, BoxRec rated a two-fight novice, David Mercardo as the third best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet!
candyslim wrote: ↑31 Oct 2021, 16:41Let's pretend Rivas was a very active and successful fighter. Would you consider it sensible to deny him a rating ... anywhere?
In terms of Oscar Rivas, during a timeframe spanning almost three years, he’s been beaten by Dillian Whyte and has himself subsequently beaten two cruiserweights (i.e. opponents only weighing 203lbs).
The Colombian hasn’t beaten a legitimate heavyweight for almost three years. And currently campaigns as a bridgerweight.
And Alen Babic wants to face Oscar Rivas for a title that isn't recognised by BoxRec.
