Reinstate the 190 division at Jr cruiserweight and move the current cruiserweight division to 210
or also keep the current 200 pound division and create a super cruiserweight division at 210 pounds.
Bridgerweight is nonsense.

Rename the brigerweight division to super-cruiserweight.
Re: Creating a "Super Heavyweight" division would be better than (ugh) Bridgerweight
How about "Not this-not that" division?

This was attempted in the 1930s and 1970s @ Super Heavyweight. Thank Jesus Christ Almighty God wiser heads prevailed and such things were never adopted because much smaller men knocked the crap out of the bigger men.

Doesn't matter what you name it. It doesn't matter, never will. Any respectable boxing fan will never even acknowledge it's existence.

I agree with EO on this. Back in the day sports writers said they would never recognize the cruiserweight division. Now it is universally accepted and some people think it is the most exciting division.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 13:05Within a decade they will be.![]()
The bridgerweight division will be around and no amount of complaining will change it.
In 10 years time people will be talking about the competitive division and its brief history
Believe it or not

Don't give it attention and hopefully it will fade away. Usyk destroyed any notion of a new division being needed.
The truth is at least 5 current divisions should be scraped especially lower down, nevermind adding anymore.
I'd scrape Light Middle, Light Welter, Super Fly, Super Bantam and Light Flyweight. Very little would be lost and there would be much better fights as guys move up or down. Look at UFC model, another reason its stealing boxings lunch money.

Cruiser is actually warranted, the gap between Light Heavy and the Heavys of today is too big. But Bridger also? No way. Didn't Rivas outweigh Usyk ffs, how can any non troll or WBC official support ittiny_acres wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 13:21I agree with EO on this. I am not and have not defended the need for a bridgerweight division.peter barlow wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 13:29Cruiser is actually warranted, the gap between Light Heavy and the Heavys of today is too big. I am simply stating the obvious connection of the 2 divisions. I am old enough to remember
the birth of the cruiserweight division. I also remember the purist saing anything over 175 was heavyweight.
Things change and fans will accept this in 10 years or so just like they did with cruiserweight.

Re: Creating a "Super Heavyweight" division would be better than (ugh) Bridgerweight
The super-middleweight division was created during November 1988.
People criticised the new division back then, but it’s easily one of the most popular weight classes today (arguably more high-profile than 140lbs, 154lbs, 160lb & 175lbs).
Times change. People adapt. It just takes time.

Great wording there genius.
Usyk just sh*t all over your theory that we need this division. Just like all of Boxing history had before him.

Super Middleweight is not at all "high profile"Enlightened-One wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 13:41 The super-middleweight division was created during November 1988.

It's had like 2 or 3 stars at best in all of it's existence.

The division is roughly thirty years of age, which means it hasn't been around for long, but some of its titleholders include:gilgamesh wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 13:56Super Middleweight is not at all "high profile"Enlightened-One wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 13:41 The super-middleweight division was created during November 1988.

Most of those guys passed through the division for a cup of coffee. They didn't stay there for any length of time. Also half of 'em aren't stars.

Super heavyweight? Please... It won't be enough. We need a total revolution over 175 lbs. Bring on super cruiserweight, light bridgerweight, bridgerweight, super bridgerweight, almost heavyweight, heavyweight, super heavyweight, super duper heavyweight and ultra super duper f*cking heavyweight.

Re: Creating a "Super Heavyweight" division would be better than (ugh) Bridgerweight
The former is my best solution. The latter doesn't make sense, because you would have a 25lb jump from LHW to Cruiser, then a 10lb jump to super cruiser. A 225lb Bridgerweight division is madness - super heavyweights like Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis and possibly Wlad Klitschko could have made that weight early in their careers with no problem.H8Usernames wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 11:23 Reinstate the 190 division at Jr cruiserweight and move the current cruiserweight division to 210
