Richard Torres Jr to Make Pro Debut in February

If you had to make a guess who do you think will be his first opponent as a professional? I think they should give him a hard-nosed veteran in his first match (four rounds) like JD Chapman who is #72 in the United States of America. That's probably a bridge too far for a debut but I think it would be a pretty good acid test.

chapman isnt hard nosed i dont think, his record is entirely built on softies and the only good journeyman he faced hurt him and beat him. not really proved his hardness

torrez would ko him in 1 or 2

but i think its actually not a bad suggestion homi, chapmans record would look really good at least by the numbers and torrez would get a nice ko. im excited about this kid, his style is total fun and balls and hes got some pop

Hard-nosed is probably the worst choice of words I could have used to describe JD Chapman but I was basically meaning somebody who had a record and a somewhat recognizable name that would look really great straight out of the gate.

And it is a very winnable fight for Richard Torres, because quite frankly the only guys Chapman ever beaten were journeymen and he has been so inactive, that despite his size and record I can see the Olympic silver medalist easily out scoring him over four rounds. Possibly even getting a stoppage.

we all know how the build up normally works.

the first guy with half a record or a recognizable name will probably come after 10 'fights', so in about 1 1/2 to 2 years time depending how busy they keep him.

i could be wrong and the fastlane him like a couple of outstanding Olympians before but i don't think so.

Silver medalist. They normaly fight decent guys, overmatched but decent. Although torres is young, so wont be a huge rush.
