Where is Jeff Hinds hiding?

Post by peter1948 »

Where is Jeff Hinds hiding these days? I haven't seen him doing what he does best & that is reffing contests on TV for absolute ages.
Or has he fallen foul of those who must be obeyed by way of upsetting something in their book of childish rules?
I understand Jeff has been officiating for well over 25yrs now so what's the reason for his absence from our ringsides?

He was never a great ref, I remember them pulling the plug on Billy Aird too.
Nevertheless he never was like a Marcus McDonell, and maybe Marcus knew exactly what he was doing.
As a Class B ref IJL was good and it's only since he has been doing the big fights that he has come under fire.
I dunno whether it's the big occasion or that he has added pressure put on him.

I seem to remember he got into a bit of trouble with the board when questioning why he hadn’t been made Class A? I might have imagined it tho.

That’s the thing when you see the cock ups our A class refs and judges make I think any ones Jeff Hinds has made are definitely no worse. He deserves to be an A class ref in my opinion.

I remember that, he def wasn't worse than the ones who did get promoted, prob better.
I don't know whether he got in trouble with the board but he did speak out.

One of the best refs was Lee Cook, he never got promoted either.

My pal retired undefeated because Steve Gray jobbed him with a draw. Walked away from the sport. Gray now let's people take free shots on the floor. He's class a...

I hope Jeff gets back in the mix soon. He's got a lot of experience and deserving of the top level status. I suppose every ref gets stick at some point, but look at some of the performances of Marcus McDonnell, Steve Gray, Ian John Lewis and Terry O'Connor. Can someone hand on heart say Jeff shouldn't be A Star.

It’s not about being good it’s about being compliant and corrupt.

He's got to be pulling on a bit now though - would he be close to retirement age?

I hope Jeff starts his radio show with: ‘I’m going to be on air for 2 hours……. OR LESS’.

exactly, as if being an a-star ref was ever based on ref ability

most of these refs/judges we see repeatedly are there because they have no shame about robbing fighters who risk their health and put all that work in
