The 1919-1923 version of Dempsey would win in 3-7 rounds, depending on which version of Baer he's against.

Dempsey would punish Baer and he either knocks him out in the late rounds or decision.

Student vs Teacher.

Dempsey - The Teacher dominates 'ol Maxy boy. As he basically could do what Max could do, just better. Baer probably packs more of a wallop in his right hand, but Dempsey is the better fighter in virtually every other department, and is more versatile. I think he eats up Baer. Not out of the question he gets dropped, but he gets up and drops Baer just as hard and more often, until he batters him to defeat.

If Max Baer brings his A+ game, it could go the distance considering Baer was the last heavyweight champion to have went 20 rounds in a professional fight (ie, Kingfish Levinsky).

Dempsey was especially dangerous in the first four or five rounds but if you could get passed the first stanza, Dempsey usually took off four or five rounds, only to come back strong in the last four or five.

It would certainly be a pretty fun match for sure. The smart money is on Dempsey but Baer would be in the fight and it would be comparable to the kind of brawl that Dempsey had with Firpo--- but I do think that Baer would try to box a bit more than usual against Dempsey, and it would go into the later rounds.
