None. No matter what happens in the Usyk rematch, Fury v AJ is the biggest money spinner in boxing. Indeed the fight is more likely to be made if one of the protagonists is in a position of weakness as negotiations are likely to be more straight forward.

That's right. After Joshua loses to Usyk again, while Fury handles Whyte, AJ can simply take time-off and wait until Fury beats Usyk. The Fury-Joshua bout will remain the biggest possible. Only mandatories can interfere, for instance, Joyce or Helenius, but probably they'll take step-aside money.

Unless the step-aside is equal or bigger than what they'd realistically be expected to make - would any ambitious fighter trust Fury or the process of getting another title fight again if they took step-aside?

Whytes situation should be a warning to others.

And maybe offering step-aside money to a mandatory won't even be needed to solve the situation. Bob, Eddie or whoever orginizes the Fury-Joshua bout is likely to deal with the sactioning bodies themselves to put mandatories away.

What after another Usyk loss? Esp if he's stopped? I think even the casual would turn against him if he got an immediate fight with Fury..... he would be mocked mercilessly by Fury in the build up, destroying what confidence he might have left.... the mainstream press might even turn on him. People would start comparing him to Audley Harrison and Frank Bruno

Would be no shame being compared to Bruno ….. but only dafties would compare him to Audley.

Yes his stock amongst “real” boxing fans would fall if he were stopped by Usyk and rightly so but we make up only a tiny percentage of potential PPV sales. The casuals might not have the same level of blind worship for him as previously but they’ll still wanna see him fight Fury.

It’s a fight that transcends the sport like no other. It will still do huge numbers regardless of what happens to each of them in their next fight or two. It’s a clash of cultures of races of background - it’s even got a north v south vibe to it. Most young men in the uk whether boxing fans or not would know who they prefer between the two and ppv buys will reflect that.

He rests, comes back after 18 months and wins two fights by highlight reel knockout against carefully picked but ranked guys. After that, it'll be game on. Bruno lost to Crusher, Witherknife and Mighty Mike, then won a few and got the Lewis fight. They will both lose to Usyk, but even then there will be plenty of cheddar in Joshua-Fury. Just look at the number Khan-Brook is doing.

It'd depend on what happens in Fury-Usyk. If Tyson loses too AJ's loss(es) wouldn't be so ripe for ridicule. The Very Feel appreciation society would form the narrative.

really why not , deppens how high you rate aj i mean i agree i think bruno is about fair, he isnt near lewis in a long shot, i would say Joseph Parker is aj best win i think klitch was gone by then ,bruno was McCall so similar think, i agree with most you wrote captain,it will be a huge fight if both fury and aj lost there next fights

Yes people overrate Bruno because they’re nostalgic and also have empathy for Frank. The reality is that he had 1 half decent win (2 if you count Chuck Gardner) and 5 big losses (and almost 6 if Jumbo Cummings had 5 seconds more.)

i did get a good chuckle when one poster once raged at the mere suggestion that wlad klit wouldve beaten bruno lol. i think generally frank's not overrated though, perhaps under if anything, given how many treat him like some useless big stiff idiot. aj is starting to become underrated by a lot too. many of the same dudes said his career was over after the first ruiz loss, just so eager to write him off.

gary mason for some reason is someone truly overrated, an ironically by many people who are usually vehmently against record padding and supposedly easy modern matchmaking

and joe parker is aj's best win? not really sure about that!

Never mind about AJ, what about Eddie?
His female cash generator is on the slide and likely to get beat this year, and his male cash generator, as in AJ might just pack it in and retire a very wealthy man.

I doubt it. From what I've heard Eddie say about Canelo, and what Canelo has actually done, they don't talk.

I can’t see any way AJ and (in particular) Eddie walk away from the sport.

I’m sure Eddie plans to be around for decades. You can tell he just loves being around it - it is who he is.

I think boxing must be quite a frustrating sport to be involved with. He had Liam Smith/Vargas planned for this cancelled due to covid. Kept the show on with a really good super fly fight and now that’s off too due to covid.

He’s in charge of the darts and snooker now too so it would never surprise me if he just walked away. I think we’re a few years away from that though.

And exclusive rights to Kid Galahad !

Seriously, Eddie is on a nightmare run because he’s had to put on consistently good cards, of evenly matched fights.

The old British model - with FWank the master practitioner - of building a Brit prospect to 30-0 before cashing out when there was nowhere else left to go is over.
It doesn’t work on an international platform like DAZN.
