Super Welterweights: Mike McCallum vs. Tony Ayala Jr.

Post by scorpio83 »

15 Rounds Super Welterweight Bout

Had Tony Ayala Jr. not gone to jail for the crimes he committed outside the ring, he would have an interesting career, but what happens if he had fought "The Bodysnatcher" Mike McCallum? McCallum would school Ayala behind his jabs, counters and combinations on the body and head before knocking him out in the late rounds. What do you guys think and who do you got?

I liked Ayala as a fighter. His progress was stunted by his own stupidity, but I remember the coverage and fanfare, his potential seem unlimited.

The Ayala that existed(never reaching his predicted superstar status) would have been cannon fodder for Mccallum.Everything Ayala could do,Mccallum could do better, even infighting.

But he was tough and game and proud. In this dream fight let's pretend he didn't turn out as he did.

He gets picked apart as his eye swells shut with Mccallum alternating from using his jab to getting inside hammering the body.

After the 2nd knockdown Ayala Sr jumps in the ring to save his battered son in the 10 th Rd.

Would Tony Sr really jump in the ring though ? He was real tough on his boys when they were young for showing any sign of weakness.
