So both these guys fought every month or so….Tyson before his first world title and Foreman in his 80s comeback.

What do you think the difference is now as this is more or less unheard of?

TV rights and modern promoters. I think Tommy Morrison had 20 odd fights also in his first year as a pro.

Yes the culture now it seems is fewer fights, bigger sell. Its a real shame, especially given how poor the opponents are.

There aren't enough active boxers anymore. Johnny Fisher is already ranked about 100 to 120 in the world! White working class lads in America have moved to MMA and black lads are increasingly going through the college system (football and basketball) or just not bothering with sports.

As well as the other reasons mentioned above, you'd need a circuit of active fighters where somebody like Fisher was ranked 300 or so at this stage for anything like the number of matches Tyson, Morrison and Foreman were having.

Even though the top men now are getting paid a fortune, the actual depth and standard overall is gash.

There's something that hasn't been mentioned and that's fans... We don't take kindly to a 12-0 guy taking on novices just to pad his record, especially when TV is involved. Only REALLY Thailand allows that sort of stuff

Fans turning against a guy after their 10rh bout like that is more likely in the internet age, and the demand for them to step up is more now than ever
