It was PPV fight where the more buys it got the more money in his back pocket. And fair play to Khan he is a much better talker than Brook and he sold the fight really well.

Do we really need yet another thread from a brand new member who seems to have joined only to sneer at and deride a fighter who’s had a marvellous career and who went out on his shield.

Khan talking “shit” pre-fight probably got him 2/3mil more in PPV revenue.
His talk created a lot of buzz and a lot buys.
Anyone know Amir’s cut from the PPV?

Re: Khans pre fight trash talk now looks very embarrassing
Khan has made an absolute c**t of himself
Got a hiding from someone he literally shew no respect to at all,as if he would box rings round him
Wouldlnt be so bad if at any point he would have said i know brook can hurt me if he catches me
But nah, deluded beyond belief, gave it all the big talk and then offered nothing, literally nothing
All them years of the genuine dislike between the 2,then the mans in front of you trying to take your head off and you just seize up and give f**k all back, embarassing and disapointing

Walk a mile in his shoespedfreeboxing wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 20:08 Does this clown ever learn. He's had more embarrassing moments inside and outside the ring than any fighter I can think of ever.
He knew deep down that Brook was always a massive threat. Yet he chose to trash talk - claim he was levels above him, accuse him of being gay. Making all the ridiculous diva demands with weight and so on.
It was such an awful performance in every way. He was atrocious, clumsy, running away.
And contrary to what some people are saying. He did not show heart. Kell wanted it far more! amir didn't show that type of fire. Amir didn't want it, he looked scared from the ring walk onwards. Kell just would not be denied he was vicious. Amir didn't fight fire with fire , he looked pleased when the ref stopped it.
All that shit talking for nothing
Most humiliating and one sided fight ever. Brook claimed the soul of Khan.
Re: Khans pre fight trash talk now looks very embarrassing
Imagine boxing where every fighter showed each other maximum personal and professional respect.
It’s the game ffs.
Look at Canelo v Plant; Caleb tries to plant one on him in the presser and now they’re family.
Stop being so sensitive. They both give it, Khan more yes, but this kinda of theatre has been going on forever. And will continue.

It was like a man vs a child in there. A father beating down his son for all the disrespect.
Re: Khans pre fight trash talk now looks very embarrassing
Good post. Just a shame Amir’s career caught up with him real fast whereas Kel still has something left.
The Khan who fought Maidana and the Brook who fought Porter… what a fight!! No one could realistically call that.
Both great fighters and everyone should have full respect for both. Both tough men who took hard fights and genuinely put themselves in danger fighting absolute monsters at middleweight.
I was genuinely nervous when Buffer was introducing them in the ring. That very rarely happens with me.

He was just selling the fight. I'm amazed that boxing fans still buy into it. You could see Kell was fighting for his life in the interviews but Khan was just messing around. I don't think he had anything personal at all towards Kell and was just having fun promoting the fight and ensuring he made the most money possible.

Not just pre-fight interviews - he has been talking Kell down and disrespecting him for over a decade.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑22 Feb 2022, 20:20 He was just selling the fight. It looked like it had dawned on him on his lonely backstage walk to the ring.

Exactly, just hyping the fight, more interesting than hey I respect Kell and the lord my saviour and hope it’s a good fight etc etcTheLeprechaun wrote: ↑22 Feb 2022, 20:20 He was just selling the fight. The Josh Taylor fight would be getting a lot more publicity this week if Cat Man jack wasn’t just making up the numbers in the pre-fight talk, dull dull DULL. I might even start giving the man a chance seeing as I was taken in by Khan’s schtick

Yeh you get much better highlight packages in adverts etc. for anyone who isn’t interested in the fight. It catches your eye.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 05:43Exactly, just hyping the fight, more interesting than hey I respect Kell and the lord my saviour and hope it’s a good fight etc etcTheLeprechaun wrote: ↑22 Feb 2022, 20:20 He was just selling the fight. Boxing would be boring if everyone respected each other yeah,or if everyone hated each other
Course its the nature of the a fight to never 100% be pally pally with your opponent.... but if youre gonna talk as much as khan did , your putting yourself on that platform to be ridiculed, dont sit their belittling a guy for years and then basically do nothing
Would be the same with any situation in life, not just fighting, could be business or anything, stay silent if you know you cant deliver, else youl just be remembered as a c**t and not get took seriously

No, just reality hit, fighters kid themselves all the time, he suddenly knew he was going in there compromised - and Kell looked like his old self…but Amir still went in and gave it all he had, no quit in the man - a true warrior to the end.

I'm surprised how many people think the grudge was an act to sell the fight. Brook clearly didn't like him before the fight and still had a distaste for him in the post fight press conference.
Khan has a long history of delusion and he genuinely believed Brook was there for the taking, and that he had the skills to do it. His overbearing arrogance in the buildup meant that if he failed to deliver on his big talk it would be particularly embarrassing.
