Zhanibek Alimkhanuly:
• Zhanibek Alimkhanuly’s amateur pedigree (according to the stats cited by The RING) are outrageously impressive (record 300-8; nine-time Kazakhstan national champ, two-time Asian champ; and 2013 World Championship gold medallist)!
• Zhanibek Alimkhanuly’s last two opponents, Rob Brant and Hassan N'Dam, have both beaten the current WBA super world middleweight champion, Ryota Murata.
• Zhanibek Alimkhanuly is currently rated 6th by The RING, 6th by TBRB and 7th by ESPN.
• Within the last couple of months, the likes of Demetrius Andrade, Esquiva Falcao and Jaime Munguía have all flatly-refused to consider facing Zhanibek Alimkhanuly.
Danny Dignum:
• I don’t know much about Danny Dignum, but he’s generally regarded as a top-six UK domestic level middleweight (probably rated behind the likes of Chris Eubank Jr., Liam Williams, Felix Cash, Sam Eggington and Anthony Fowler).
• Danny Dignum’s fifteen opponents have failed to win a combined total of 241 bouts (only possessing a 40% win-rate).
• Danny Dignum looked ecstatic to be awarded the draw when the outcome of his bout was announced against the severely disappointed Andrey Sirotkin, with the unfortunate Russian fighter getting stopped in his very next outing.
I watched that bout and it almost seemed impossible for Sirotkin to fail to land his right hand against the upright defensively irresponsible Dignum.
• According to BoxRec, Andrey Sirotkin was the best fighter that Danny Dignum had faced by the proverbial country mile.
• The second-best fighter on Dignums resume is Conrad Cummings’.
I am assuming that the winner of this bout will eventually be elevated to becoming the fully-fledged official WBO world champion, due to Demetrius Andrade’s permanent move to 168lbs.
