obviously wlad and wilder are the top 2

Wallin. Clearly.

Chisora(2) and Whyte were both mismatches. Wallin gave a much better account of himself and is unbeaten outside of that fight.

Maybe he picked the wrong game plan. Maybe he just wasn't feeling it. Maybe it simply was not his night because Fury has actually peaked as a heavyweight. But I cannot call Wallin the third best because a one-eyed Fury literally won every single round against the Swede.

The man will forever go down in the history books as being lucky he got Fury cut. Other than that he was never in the fight with Fury. But people want to make it bigger than what it was because of all the blood.

No, Whyte had the best credentials and had been the number one contender for 3 years. However on the basis of that performance I have little doubt that Wilder probably would have beaten Whyte.

Twelve rounds, I think all you could really give the Swedish heavyweight was three or four rounds out of the contest. Regardless the man was brought in as an opponent, Fury did not take the man seriously, and Fury won a unanimous decision with one eye.

I don't think a cut should automatically elevate a man to being one of the top three best opponents in a man's career. But of course we agree to disagree. What I think is a more interesting question is who is number four or five, and I would probably say Chisora and Cunningham.

although tbh i dont think he intends to retire, and his wife said he wants the undisputed fight badly. im guessing he's doing his ususal talking nonsense and has been more truthful behind closed doors

Do we really know how good Wallin really is?

wallin vs whyte wouldve told us a lot i think, since whyte's level is pretty well established. wouldve been a better fight than whyte - fury obviously, still wouldnt mind it.

Whyte’s comfortably the best of the three, he’s beaten a decent number of fringe contenders and his wins over Parker and Povetkin are decent enough, although both of those are debatable as decisive due to the butt and Pov being on the slide.

Wallin has a bit of potential but he his performance against Fury is a bit over rated by some and he really hasn’t done anything else noteworthy at a top ten level. I think he beats Chisora and it would be a good fight between him and Whyte that I’d still like to see - but there won’t be much money in it now.

Chisora is a gatekeeper and has never been anything else. His peak was over a decade ago when he was as robbed vs Helenius and gave Vlad a decent nights work. Since then he’s been hyped to the heavens and earned well, but really hasn’t beaten anyone of note.

It’s not a great resume but it’s now better than any other heavyweights of this generation. AJ has beaten the plenty of B level guys but he doesn’t have a stand out win on his resume

Good summary

Whyte has the best HW resume. Chisora gave Fury a better challenge in their first fight. Wallin we need to see tested.

But Cunningham and Pajkic both knocked Fury down and gave him a better fight. Cunningham was a world champ at cruser too. Kevin Johnson became a journeyman after Fury but at the time I thought he gave Vitali a good challenge. Pajkic was undefeated but didn't box on after the Fury loss so he's a bit of an unknown.

Fury isn't close to the GOAT talks unless he beats Usyk and AJ. Maybe add the next top guy to come through after that should it be Joyce, Hrgovic, Yoka, Anderson or whoever else.

I'd also add that it's partly not Fury's fault. If he beats the rest of the division then it's not his fault that the division isn't up to the standard of previous generations. If he doesn't get around to it then it is his fault for failing a drugs test, pissing about with rematches and choosing to face a lot of warm ups and no names rather than the top guys when he had the chance.
