Per the Sporting Life, edition 29th April 1883 - https://digital.la84.org/digital/collec ... 0465/rec/4

Given the reference to "Tuesday evening last", I would place this fight on Tuesday 24th April 1883.

Report as follows:

WOODSON AGAIN ON TOP.
The "Diamond" Succeeds in Making Wm. Underhill Quit.

Another fistic display took place at Johnny Clark's on Tuesday evening last, between Harry Woodson, better known as the "Black Diamond," and a stranger named Underhill, the latter making the attempt to stay in front of Woodson four rounds, Queensberry rules, and secure the coveted $25 offered by Mr. Clark. Underhill is a square-built man, about 26 years of age and weighing about 165Ibs. He has the reputation among his friends of being wonderfully game, having in some cases stood up In front of three and four men at one time, but he proved to be no match for the "Diamond," who made him quit in the second round, although the first round was evidently sufficient for him had not Mr. Clark called time at a minute and a half instead of three minutes to give Underhill a chance to recover.
At the call of time in the second round Underhill came to the scratch looking a very peculiar mud color and undoubtedly wishing he had never seen his friend, the "Diamond." But the latter did not allow him much time for reflection as he went straight for him and rained such sledge-hammer blows that the last one knocked him clean out of sight into the dressing-room, from which he never returned, not even to make his obeisance to the spectators. Mr. Clark came to the front of the stage and declared the "Diamond" the winner, adding another to the list of his victories.
