glenn mccrory in court
According to Richard Littlejohn in today's Daily Mail Glenn McCrory is to appear before Durham magistrates in August because he called a waitress " pet "and she has cited this as harrassment.
What is the world coming to ?
It's a term of endearment in the North East !!!

Is pet just a term, like people in different areas call people names without any hard intended.stevec@france wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 05:53 Glen does have a bit of an attitude and can rub people up the wrong way - Pet .
A girl at work gets called Shugs by a certain individual.. I did a research and there's a lot of meanings. Some derogatory.
Old folk in Staffordshire say 'duck' a lot.. When I worked for Britannia BS, in the contact centre, every customer used 'duck' in almost every sentence.
Every sentence, literally 'thanks duck'.. 'ok duck'..
Re: glenn mccrory in court
There is supposed to be a massive backlog of cases in the justice system, and this goes to court?? Absolutely unbelievable. The police should have laughed at the complainants. What a waste of time and money.

I know it is unbelievable. He probably had some food bought over and said " ah thanks pet " and she goes and gets offended. The world has gone mad...
Mind, I said "thanks mate" to a customer I served once and he replied: " I'm not your mate. I am a customer" and walked off !

Re: glenn mccrory in court
If there was booze involved, I'd imagine Glenn said a bit more than 'pet's.
Re: glenn mccrory in court
Let's wait and see the full facts. Calling someone "Pet" is nowhere near the standard of harassment for the CPS to decide to charge someone and it's certainly not abusive.
I'm also a bit dubious it was a £5000 per head dinner.....

Anyone who has been out with or around Glen on a night out will know he's a handful. As per above, it might be worth waiting for the full story to come out before putting this down to 'political correctness gone mad'.

Do you mean maybe the birds are looking for a nice pay out? I mean as it was a posh event they felt they could complain and maybe get some sort of compensation by the organisers?

No, he means Richard Littlejohn's rants are to be seen for what they are.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 07:21Do you mean maybe the birds are looking for a nice pay out? I mean as it was a posh event they felt they could complain and maybe get some sort of compensation by the organisers?

I see. I don't know. Probably just personal knowledge of how much such things cost. He moves in those circles.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 07:36Sorry I mean the second bit about the £5k dinnerjimmystone wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 07:32No, he means Richard Littlejohn's rants are to be seen for what they are.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 07:21

£5k for a dinner seems ridiculous….. what were they eating? Gold? No wonder Glenn wanted a couple of shiners from the waitresses at that price.jimmystone wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 07:49I see. Re: glenn mccrory in court
Youre certainly right that calling someone 'Pet' wouldnt amount to harassment. There needs to a course of conduct, i.e. more than one incident.
There must be more to this and Glenn's alleged behaviour.
Certain behaviours can amount to offences contrary to Section 5 or Section 4A of the Public Order Act, but calling someone 'Pet' and that constituting a criminal offence is ridiculous and not realistic and I am a practising criminal solicitor of 13 years, sat here drafting this in the solicitors room at a Magistrates' Court.

The saddest thing about this entire episode is that I can remember when you were a law student and thought it was about three years ago.liamlion wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 08:35Youre certainly right that calling someone 'Pet' wouldnt amount to harassment. Something about this (the names Richard Littlejohn and Daily Mail) tells me the accusation is being simplified for shock value and to whip up the whole "snowflake/can't say anything nowadays" attitude.

I would hope that the 5k included a ringside seat at the very least.

If Littlejohn said today is Tuesday I'd still check my calendar, Littlejohn the man who rages at people from working at home whilst sending his 'articles' to the Daily Mail from his home in Florida.

Re: glenn mccrory in court
5k per head dinner? You go to Paris and stay in the George V and have a seven course meal for a fifth of that.

I'm guessing he called them pet, they didn't like the term and then it got nasty. you absolutely would not go to court for calling someone pet.

'According to Richard Littlejohn'.....
Anything after that has a more than fair chance of being absolute bollocks.
