Lightweights: Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini vs Sean O'Grady

Post by elmersalsa »

This is a great one. These guys would leave it all in the ring. What a war it would be. Bubblegum Sean vs Boom Boom. For the World Lightweight Championship. Who wins?

Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini on cuts in a war. I think it would finish about the 5th round with Sean O'Grady bleeding profusely. This time, not even the referee nor the judges nor any place they fight would save O'Grady from the slaughter like he suffered against Shig Fukuyama in Oklahoma City, OK.

O’Grady had one great fight, vs Kenty, where he put it all together. He was doing OK vs Watt until he got cut and seemed to lose his momentum. Other than that his record was mostly built on bum fights in and around Oklahoma. Neither Kenty nor Watt were big punchers. O’Grady wouldn’t have been able to take Mancini’s relentless pressure and would have gotten busted up and stopped by around the 5th

Guess I pretty much agree with everyone. O'Grady might make it interesting for a few rounds, but it's hard imagining him actually winning. Both seemed to be really good guys.

Sean was a pretty good announcer for boxing on the USA network.

Good Ray still in the sport, I figured he would be disgusted by certain things now. When he was younger, he was pretty cool as well.
