White Collar shows & exibition fights
Are they good or bad for boxing?
Since its emergence White Collar shows continue to sell out and some shows I have been to have had some great fights albeit lacking skill.
Is professional boxing doing enough? Whose fault are the lack lustre professional shows … the BBBofC or the promoters?

Bad. Unless it’s white collar in the purest sense ie first timers for charity.
It dilutes the amateur scene. I don’t understand why white collar boxers don’t juts join an amateur gym and go the proper route.

Nearly all the shows I go to in NZ have a few of these at the start of the night.
Some are fun, most are not.
I'm not sure if it leads some of the participants into furthering their careers in boxing because I don't pay attention to their names
It is part and parcel of corporate sponsorship to get the shows put on, so I either turn up a bit late and miss them, or have them in the background as I slurp down a few pre action Beersies![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

some are too old and just do it as a one off experience.high tower 1 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2022, 16:28 Bad. Unless it’s white collar in the purest sense ie first timers for charity.

They get talked about a lot..
There's always charity/white collar events in the North West that i'm aware off..
Just local lads..
It's always boxing..
You don't see exhibition snooker tournaments or other sports..
People want to see a fight apparently.

Been to plenty of both white collar and pro shows. At most of the white collar shows I'd say on average their are 1 or 2 actual decent fighters who cud turn pro. Most of them Just love a fight or are so easily matched its hard to gage if their any good cause they sell alot of tickets
Biggest issue in the pro game for me is on the small hall side not many evenly matched main events. It's all ticket sellers v journeymen. I use like the masters title and area titles fights.

my mate fought white collar york hall, it was a good eveing boxing, very different to you tube boxing tho same exibtion fights , i guess it has alaways been prize fighting name of the game, but as boxing fan i do feel youtube fighters will hurt the sport as they have the money and the audience, in reailty is fury a house hold name out side boxing fans family not sure he is there or there abouts but he aint like bruno i dont think , aj is lucky because of the olympics

exhibition fights are a bit of a scam and often pre-arranged.
