The fight actually took place at a specially built stadium in SOUTH Melbourne on the corner of City Rd and Cecil Streets as described in newspaper reports of the day. It was estimated that 7,000 fans attended the fight Prior to the fight Tommy Burns set up training camp at the nearby Hotel Victoria, also in South Melbourne. The fight was promoted by John Wren.
