Josh Taylor:Portrait of a Fighter

Post by Alba »

Tonight on BBC Scotland at 10 pm.

Haven't seen a trailer, but I think it includes up to the Caterall fight.

I really hope the folk who have been behind this have been objective with it as he really might not come out of it good if he's been left to his own device's

He said last night he’s fighting Catt again at 140lbs.

Hope it comes off; can see the negotiations being a nightmare. Cat will want 50/50 and Josh will want 98%.

Taylor should def get a minimum of 75%, hes champ.

Catt will be thanking his lucky stars that Taylor didn't move up.

I wonder if he’s able to fight in the US now which perhaps stops the Zepeda fight from happening.

First met Josh and his Mrs in Russia when he was doing promotion stuff for WBSS … I thought then what a sound bloke he was … then met them the next day and him & mrs had a severe hangover.

The final time I saw him was in Scotland When he fought Baranchyk (spelling??)

I had him losing a close fight to Catterall … I hope he learns from that fight …

I hope success has not gone to his head.

Yeah, wouldn’t really dispute that first bit.

I’m thinking Josh would put down the occasional red wine in the build up to this and take it more serious and make the weight better and have a better game plan against a fighter who he now knows how they’ll fight.

Catt is up against it against a highly motivated Taylor and I just can’t see a repeat of the first fight. I reckon it will be razor thin and Josh will get it on the cards.

I think he still intends to fight Zep first though, so be interesting how he will perform against a very decent fighter after the last debacle.

Btw, I’ll watch the documentary tomorrow.

Agree ,, Think Taylor will be highly motivated , train hard and want revenge see him beating Catt quite convincingly , unless he listens to Davidson , then it could be the same result

My mate was at his wedding, some of the pics with Davison in are hilarious. He’s a smug git. Terrible suit he had on as well.

Seems the type to wear a white suit and full length white fur coat trying to upstage the bride!

Hopefully they put it on youtube eventually so we can all check it out.
I've had a severe fan-falling out with him post Catterall.
He dealt with an obvious gift decision and everyone saying he lost - like an utter dipstick.
If this fight does go though - no matter the outcome, it goes a small way to making amends.

Wasn't too bad. Hopefully back in the ring by end of the year with a new motivation. The way I took it is he has reached the top of his game and motivation is an issue. He spoke of fear of losing which was strange.

josh has come across really poorly, but he's still redeemable. rematching cat would go a long way. most prob will disagree, but even him fighting zepeda would be some redemption for me - a worldclass south paw with some skill and power

i think he's just a super intense guy and that the reaction stung him. he shoulda handled it better, but i dont think he's someone who is an all around total prickhead. maybe only a quarter prickhead, brought out when he feels attacked

Given Tyson is banned from the US I wonder if Taylor is too. Will certainly make the big fights (bar Catterall) more difficult to make.

I used to really like Taylor. I saw him fight live at the Olympics and went to a couple of his early pro fights. He made himself pretty unlikable though after his last fight.

Watched it and I don’t buy Josh being a nice guy one bit. I guess he’s nice when things are rosy and everything is sweet but I can’t handle the nastiness when he’s put under pressure or things aren’t going his own. I bet he’s a disaster to live with since the Catt fight.

Reminds me of Jurgen Klopp. Nice, affable when winning and pretty cuntish when he isn’t.

Tremendous fighter and some of his wins are immense.. but he’s a strange guy. Saying he wouldn’t have complained if Jack took it by a point yet on his socials he’s not once said anything remotely like that and has openly mocked Jack in a pretty childish way.

Ben Davison at church was a highlight.
