Commonwealth Games 2022 - Team England

Post by Dioufy »

I’m going to quarter finals day. Anyone know any of the England team or fighters from other nations to look out for?

Will be interesting to see who comes through well. I've heard good things about Lewis Richardson (England) and le Poullain (Guernsey).

I remember India had some good fighters in 2010. Just watched the reigning champ at 64kg fight some poor sod from Naru. Jonas was his name, from Namibia. He's good and rangey.

I'm going to the finals next Sunday. I'm excited.

How did you find the quarters?

I'm watching them now, Indian lad v Australian in 75kg, they are knocking bells out of each other.

Just watched India v Australia 75kg. A great bout ruined by bad refereeing in my eyes. Horrid officiating. Callum Peters is very good though. He was moving nicely and Sumit became ragged. I think a lot of that was desperation though. Good fight from both

The one I like the look of is Colin of Mauritius - a handy boxer with some great skills.

Loved the Samoan who edged out the Indian at heavyweight with a last round barnstormer. :TU:

Jude Gallagher from Northern Ireland just stopped Niall Farrell from Birmingham at Featherweight. Farrell was Boxing News' pick for gold, but he got two standing counts in the first and the referee stopped it. :box:

Taylor Bevan of Wales looks good, hasn't had to do 3 full rounds yet, just stopped a decent Samoan kid. Aussie lad lost on a horrific cut in the previous bout to a Jamaican.

I really rate the commonwealth games. Some people say its a low level of competition but I think it's class. Been some very good boxing on.

it's good for sure, plenty of quality and good fights, just will never be a top international tournament with cuba, all the east euro countries, and central asian countries missing

I like it as it gives some smaller countries a good go to play in a big tournament. I've enjoyed watching the bowls and triathlon too. A bit gutted on the lack of fencing but the commonwealth fencing championships are on later this month.

Its been brilliant.

Jolly from Scotland just KOd his opponent inside 20 seconds.

Having Ronald on commentary is the bonus "He bends his opponent in half like an accordion'

Big Ron also used the phrase "Tomato tint' to describe someone who had their face cut....

Was a cracker has well ,,, Bevan is the one i can't work out ,, really been looking very very clinical and very good ,,,, But i just can't work out if he's had a dream draw , or is making it look easy .

what makes it all intriging is were very soon gonna find out ,, enjoyed thes games more than amy comp i've watched for a long time . Like i've said before especielly the middleweights and light heavys ,

Who's got the middle weight... Richardson ,,, Hickey or is the young Aussie gonna cause an upset , having seen him (Peters ) a few times now , i can tell you if Hickey or Richardson , choose to stand with him he has a lot more than weve seen , very good inside fighter ,, but i don't think he's experienced enouh to beat them especily Richardson .

Light heavy well the strong scotsman , the busy englishman or the smooth welshmen , got to say pushed for an answer i think the scotsman Lazzarini

Just watched a young lad from Zambia look a bit bamboozled by an aussie in the bantamweight quarter finals, before stopping him in the first ten seconds of the second round :box:

Wendell was good. I like how he was fighting fire with fire. He reminded me a bit of Woodhall with his long 1 2s and his high guard. I think the styles blended well. The Mozambique boxer was fantastic.

Rohit tokas at welter looks one to watch too. Delicious Orie had a good match with Nigel Paul too

I watched Reece Lynch vs Jonas Jonas and thought lynch was quite a dirty fighter. I think he'll do well though
