Teofilo Stevenson's amateur career knockout wins
Teofilo Stevenson's amateur career knockout wins
I would please like to know how many knockout wins for Teofilo Stevenson in his amateur career? Did he scored at least 200 or more knockouts out of more than 300 wins?

In amateur boxing you would normally count all stoppage wins (KO, RSC, RSCH, Abandonded, TKO, etc) then I guess it´s safe to say Teofilo has more than 200 stoppage wins.
In the 110 wins recorded by Boxrec as of today, he has 72 stoppage wins and that includes most of his international bouts.

I don't know if abandoned or walkover would count as a knockout or stoppage win because that certain opponent would forfeit their match due to injury before the fight, so the abandoned or walkover doesn't count as a stoppage or knockout win. Thanks anyway.

i dont think abandoned is the same as walkover, isnt abandoned they were retired by their corner? in those cases a fight actually happened, unlike a walkover

Abandoned is the same as retirement, like the coach throws the towel or withdraws the fighter before the next round begins. So yes, it counts as a stoppage win.
In a Walk Over there is no match and cannot be counted. Unfortunately they do in Boxrec, which is simply wrong (that´s why Lomachenko has two losses in Boxrec when it´s commonly known that he has only one amateur loss).

I noticed on Andres Aldama's amateur record that he scored 4 knockouts, but they didn't count rsf or abandonment (retirement) as a TKO win. His knockout or TKO win should have more on his record that they found it so far. Could anyone tell me why they didn't count the referee stoppage or retirement as a TKO or KO win? Anyways, thanks from both of you.

Re: Teofilo Stevenson's amateur career knockout wins
my guess is that boxrec doesnt count the rsch, rsco, etc as stoppages because those results dont exist in the pros, and they havent thus coded them to appear in the overall stoppage tally. i assume it's something they could change...
so guys who scored a lot of stoppages in the amateurss are often listed with a much lower stoppage rate than they really have
for example i just went through artur beterbiev's am record...........he's listed as 96-10 (24), but if you count all forms of stoppage and remove walkovers, his record here is actually 85-10 (45) - a far higher stoppage rate. notice he had lots of walkover wins but no losses....im guessing his reputation as a punishing puncher might have something to do with guys withdrawing so much vs him, especially if they'd already reached a stage where they'd medaled or qualified for a bigger event

Thanks for Margaret for explaining the reason boxrec don't count rsch or rsco as TKO or KO in their amateur records.
