I would like to tell you the sad news that former World Featherweight Champion Johnny Famechon had passed away at 77. RIP Champ

Very sad news. Johnny won the WBC featherweight title in Britain with a 15-round decision over Jose Legra at the Albert Hall and retained twice against Japanese great Fighting Harada before Mexico's Vicente Saldivar launched an unlikely comeback and took a close decision over Famechon in Rome. Johnny was a no-frills boxer who got on with the job when others fought in spurts. He never loved boxing and was out of the game by the age of 24.
