Dawejko/Marshall 9/1 Philly

Post by 1004335 »

I know there are some Dawejko fans here. Kind of an under the radar fight last night in Philly. But after contemplating retirement Dawejko returned to the ring against Mike Marshall. Marshall isn't the toughest competition but he's not an easy W. Went the distance with Sonny Conto recently. Anyway Dawejko actually looked really good and won by 4th RD TKO with a nice left hook. Knocked him down earlier in the fight with a left as well. He is already scheduled to fight again 10/7 but opp not announced yet. Conto also fights in October. If they both win I can see them fighting as a step up up fight for Conto or if Dawejko beats Conto maybe he gets 1 more somewhat big fight. Both fought Marshall, Conto was at the fight, both Philly guys that fight next month. it only makes sense to me.

since his loss to Frank Sanchez i gained respect for Joey Dawejko. not a technical boxer but a decent brawler and once was said to have knocked down or Anthony Joshua. i have not seen Sonny Conto or Mike Marshall yet, great to read that Joey got another win

Yea Joey isn’t an easy W. Outside the Kossobutsiy fight he rarely gets KO no matter the opponent. He’s too short with not enough reach to compete with the top guys like we saw with Sanchez but always competes with them. I personally think he best Kuzmin a couple years ago, then after that he started taking fights on a weeks notice against tough competition which kind of skewed his record. I’d gotta think if he’s fighting twice in a month he’s tuning up for a hopefully bigger fight
