Heavyweights: Prime Floyd Patterson vs. Prime Jerry Quarry

Post by scorpio83 »

15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout

In 1967, both Patterson and Quarry fought to a draw in their first fight in 10 rounds, then later in the year Quarry decision Patterson in 12 rounds in the first round WBA Heavyweight title elimination bout as Patterson was a little past his prime from his post-championship reign.

What if the prime Jerry Quarry fought the prime Floyd Patterson, who knocked out both Archie Moore and Ingemar Johansson in their second and third fight. In my mind, the prime Patterson would outbox and outwork Quarry behind his devastating combinations including his right hands and left hooks to either win by decision or stopping Quarry in late rounds on the cut-eye. What do you guys think and who do you got?

No matter what the scorecards said on the first fight Patterson won clearly.
The second fight was extremely close and could of been a draw.
And that was a past prime Patterson.
Prime for Prime Patterson wins a comfortable decision but still gets knocked down at least once.

I could see that as well.
