Donald McRae has long been one of the best writers in our sport. His summing up of Conor Benn and Eddie Hearn is well worth reading and sharing.

A pretty fair article. Gareth’s YouTube clip even gets a mention.
Eddie’s in a tough spot I think. Ethically the fight should be off although I get why they’d be annoyed about the BBBC calling it off 3 days before the fight given they’ve apparently known about it for a couple of weeks.
On the other hand it’s probably a £10m fight and it’s the first fight that’s given DAZN publicity and will probably have a substantial multiplier effect on the subscriber numbers. That shouldn’t matter when it comes to whether or not a fight will happen but I’m not surprised they’re looking for ways to allow the fight.
Obviously hindsight’s great but I actually think the board should have been stronger here. When they first heard about it they should have told them the fight’s off unless there’s a negative B sample. I fail to see why they couldn’t have had it tested in the last 2 weeks.

I guess if it hadn’t been reported yesterday then the board would have swept it under the rug.

If they do get the fight on the viewing figures will be so much better than they would have been without this fiasco.
Have DAZN made a statement yet or are they quietly letting it all unfold?
On a side note, I was looking at the VADA website earlier. The photo of AJ when he signed up to their clean programme is good. I forgot how jacked he was back then.

ha, funny enough a lad at work who likes boxing was saying in frustration how none of the tv or youtube lackeys was asking EH the tough questions, I said you won't see that from the tv lot but i suppose there may be a guardian journalist who calls it what it is......
