Douglas has one "S" not 2. Anyways, if Douglas face the prime Dempsey, then Dempsey would cut Douglas down with his own jabs and body punches. He would nail Douglas' face with left hooks and right hands to either decision him as Douglas would fight for survival unlike his fight with Mike Tyson or Dempsey knocking Douglas out late.

However, if Douglas face the 1927 Dempsey, then he would out-box that version of Dempsey behind his jabs and combinations on the outside like Tunney did and take a decision.

Douglas at his best was levels above Dempsey. Of course, Dempsey was too good with his rough style, so he would have KO chances, but overall it looks like a caveman with a bludgeon against a soldier with a machine-gun.

Kind of what I was thinking as to how Dempsey would attack Douglas.
Think we need to go by Dempsey from about 1918-1923 vs Douglas from about 1986-1990. Dempsey should win the fight; he was usually the better fighter. However, the Douglas that beat Tyson though would have beaten almost anyone. Douglas had a few other fights where he fought well enough to give Dempsey trouble. Other times he looked mediocre or even bad and Dempsey would have destroyed him.

In a nutshell, Dempsey was more likely to fight a great fight; and less likely to fight a poor one.
