Holyfeilds Heavyweight record

Post by 1128464 »

Can anyone tell me why Holyfield's record is always listed with his cruiserweight bouts included as heavyweight. He's only 27-10 as a heavyweight, I think these bouts should be separate from heavyweight accomplishments so people can really see his actual heavyweight record. I don't recall any great heavyweight fighter getting so much credit for being great and at the same time stink up so many fights..regardless of his victory list his record would indicate an inconsistent fighter who hung around to long...and got a short road to the heavyweight title after everyone else had to come up the ladder And he came really close to having 12 or 13 losses, with the Bert Cooper fight, Vaughn bean and Larry holmes could have easily been awarded the decision in their 12 round fight. I know he's an all time great fighter but he was never a great heavyweight champion with only 3 consecutive title defenses to his credit and every time he won the belts after he lost them immediately. I am trying to give him a proper all time ranking so I am open to all opinions on where most would rank this all time legend. I personally have a hard time ranking him any higher than 10th all time due to his record, lack of heavyweight wins, inconsistent chin and stamina and he ranks no where close to any Top 10 championship categories. And I love holyfield I am not knocking him for anything. I just would like other people's perspective on him and where you may think he ranks all time?

They can't do that because Holyfield's career record is a career record like others who fought their own career mostly at the lighter weight through the heavier weights. If they do that what you ask, then the fans would be confused with his separate record at both cruiserweight and heavyweight. This way Holyfield's pro career record stayed combined as always and you have no right to change that on your request. Sorry it doesn't work like that.

You should have posted this anecdote on the other board. In this section not many will read it.
