From what I’ve read, this is a big signing.

Very good signing.
He looked the business in the amateurs.
Must have cost old Brick Top alot of money. I read somewhere that Shalom/Sky went in with a big offer aswell.
Between Itauma and Tommy Fletcher, Queensbury have some frightening young prospects at Cruiser/heavyweight

Really good signing. Helps having his bro with the same team. I’d imagine all of the main U.K. promoters would have been interested. I’m a little surprised he didn’t make a late run for Paris 2024 though.
Re: Moses Itauma Signs Promotional Deal with Fr Warren
Massive signing, i am sure he is the one they all wanted, I think more time in the amateurs would have seasoned him better.
He will now be fighting the worlds worst pros under the microscope instead of the worlds best amateurs under the radar.
However with Delicious Orie being the man in the number one spot and the 2028 Olympics a long way off and currently having boxing removed it might be the best option.
I hope they keep him very busy, out once a month like a young Tyson, having 3 months between mediocre fights is not enough for a young man of his talent and potential.

He’s signed with Francis Warren as his manager. Makes zero sense - he can he objectively negotiate the best deal for Itauma when his dad/brother is/are his current promoters?!

Quite easily, like all the other fighters such as his brother Karol who Francis also manages who fights under Queensbury.maverick23 wrote: ↑31 Dec 2022, 11:40 He’s signed with Francis Warren as his manager. Re: Moses Itauma Signs Promotional Deal with Fr Warren
When you are tied to a long term promotional deal, there’s not much in terms of finance you can negotiate, well in the first years anyway.
Some of these in house management deals are enticed by not charging a management fee.

He has a big conflict of interest. It’s part of the reason why the Ali act was brought in to boxing in the late 90s/early 2000s.Manchester Hitman wrote: ↑31 Dec 2022, 12:00Quite easily, like all the other fighters such as his brother Karol who Francis also manages who fights under Queensbury.maverick23 wrote: ↑31 Dec 2022, 11:40 He’s signed with Francis Warren as his manager. Does Francis have any fighters that are with a big promoter other than his dad?

There’s no Ali act over here as you know and that is a nonsense anyway when you look at the carry on with Haymon/PBC and all there shadow companies etc.maverick23 wrote: ↑31 Dec 2022, 12:08He has a big conflict of interest. Let’s not create an issue which doesn’t exist. Moses is in good hands and he would have received a very serious package to sign no matter who manages him. He probably would have got a sports brief to over see it anyway. No I think all of Francis top talent are with his dad, but he works with the small hall promoters on the lesser names.
It’s the same carry on with Tony Simms/Matchroom.

Must be tough signing hyped prospects based on eye test.
This guy sounds good from everyone I’ve heard him in with. But his opponents average record is like 0.3-0.1-0 or somthing hahah.
At 18 I’d rather see him stay amature another 2 years. Try box the olympics (if boxing remains part of Paris)… good to get some adult fights in where losing is fine and part of the game.

Yeah - the PBC take the piss with it. Does it really help their fighters though? Given how inactive the majority of the stable are, I’d argue not. If the fighters had more leverage then perhaps we’d see them fight more regularly or in better fights.Manchester Hitman wrote: ↑31 Dec 2022, 12:23There’s no Ali act over here as you know and that is a nonsense anyway when you look at the carry on with Haymon/PBC and all there shadow companies etc.maverick23 wrote: ↑31 Dec 2022, 12:08He has a big conflict of interest. It’ll only be an issue when his contract comes up for renewal.

Buncey will no doubt remind us he's a baby for the next few years as he smashes his way through hopelessly overmatched European journeymen.
Re: Moses Itauma Signs Promotional Deal with Fr Warren
Just my take, but really don't understand why he's turning over so early - 18 is sooooo young for a heavyweight and surely he could get far more valuable experience competing at an elite level in the amateurs rather than blowing through the type of opponents that have been served up to his brother so far. He's a stellar talent but still needs to be managed the right way.

Never did Fury any harm!Deserter wrote: ↑01 Jan 2023, 08:46 Just my take, but really don't understand why he's turning over so early - 18 is sooooo young for a heavyweight and surely he could get far more valuable experience competing at an elite level in the amateurs rather than blowing through the type of opponents that have been served up to his brother so far. It is crucial that a young heavyweight gets quality sparring though.

I think he’s turning over at the right time.
Re: Moses Itauma Signs Promotional Deal with Fr Warren
Fair point Coco, but Fury had 7 years as a pro before challenging for the world title. Based on Fwank's history (and wanting to make bank), can you honestly see Itauma being moved at that pace?Coco wrote: ↑01 Jan 2023, 08:55Never did Fury any harm!Deserter wrote: ↑01 Jan 2023, 08:46 Just my take, but really don't understand why he's turning over so early - 18 is sooooo young for a heavyweight and surely he could get far more valuable experience competing at an elite level in the amateurs rather than blowing through the type of opponents that have been served up to his brother so far. Hatton did before Kostya. Naz was a lot quicker.Deserter wrote: ↑01 Jan 2023, 09:20Fair point Coco, but Fury had 7 years as a pro before challenging for the world title. yep, hatton's a good call Mickey. i just don't get the rush with this one given the quality on the amateur scene and the fact he's a 'baby' in heavyweight terms. let's see how it plays out...mickey1975 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2023, 09:42Hatton did before Kostya. Naz was a lot quicker.

Hatton was making a lot for Fwank from around 2000, though. Fwank isn’t shy of matching some kids if he thinks they’re up to it. Like Dubious v Joyce.

Re: Moses Itauma Signs Promotional Deal with Fr Warren
Press Release
FRANK W AND Queensberry have announced the signing of World Youth and European Heavyweight champion Moses Itauma to a long-term promotional agreement.
The highly rated Chatham-based heavy turned 18 on Thursday and joins his older brother, Olympic Youth champion Karol, in the Queensberry ranks and fighting on BT Sport.
Itauma won gold at the Schools, Juniors and Youth Europeans and his World gold came recently in November over in Spain. He is a two-time National champion, a Multi-Nation BoxCup winner and unbeaten in 24 fights as an amateur, with only one of them being a split-decision verdict at the age of 11.
Represented by CSM, the management group recently founded by Francis Warren, he now joins fellow heavyweights Tyson Fury, Joe Joyce, Daniel Dubois, David Adeleye and Boma Brown in sporting Queensberry colours.
"It is exciting for me because allegedly has been on the circuit for many years and is the man for the job," said Itauma on teaming up with a Hall of Fame promoter. "It is going to be good and it is exciting times.
"For me now it is about stepping up quickly, really. I never really took up boxing to win world titles, I literally just kept going to the gym because we were like a little family at St Mary's ABC. It was just good fun and then I started winning National titles.
"About two years ago I felt the amateur game wasn't really for me and I started to grow out of it. I don't think I'm special but I realised I was good at boxing probably when I started sparring Lawrence Okolie when I was 14-15 years old and was holding my own.
"I was then sparring Joe Joyce, Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua and was still holding my own, if not getting the better of it. When I was sparring Joyce and Okolie I was coming in wearing my school uniform having come straight from school and was yawning."
Frank W, meanwhile, believes he is about to unleash a major force on the heavyweight scene.
"The booming British heavyweight division has now got a new player and this one is going right to the very top," said the promoter. "For very obvious reasons, Moses was a young man in demand and I am thrilled that he has chosen Queensberry to guide and promote his career.
"We are the ones with a proven track record of taking young fighters to major title success and Moses is going to be in good company with our other elite prospects already taking steps forward in the professional ranks.
"Moses is an exceptional talent who is going to further light up the heavyweight scene in this country and globally.
"Moses possesses the ability to be a heavyweight great and I am sure the nation will get behind him and support his crusade to become a record-breaking world champion."
Francis Warren of Champion Sports Management, added: "The future of heavyweight boxing is in safe hands with Moses, who is destined to become a world champion and dominate the scene for many years to come. That is the bold plan he himself has set out and it is up to us to deliver on it outside of the ring.
"I am absolutely delighted to welcome Moses to the management company I have formed to take care of the interests of the growing band of young and hugely talented fighters I am privileged to represent."
Moses Itauma’s professional debut will be announced at a press conference on Thursday 5th January.
