Whre is weight data coming from?

Post by 558893 »

Does it come directly from local boxing officials? I often see numbers that make no sense whatsoever, like this event, where two fighters weighed in at 185lbs and 190lbs for a light heavy bout, and yet, there is a cruiser bout where both weighed in 170lbs. Is this a typo or just bad data supplied by the officials?

Yes, weights are supplied by commissions.

So, if you suspect the commission gave you incorrect data, do you ask them to correct or clarify it? Or it's just added as is, like in the linked example?

Or, here is a better example: this event. Joaquin Berroa Lugo vs Franklin Fortuna is listed as cruiser, but both fighters are over 400 pounds.

There is no easy answer, some commissions are amenable to changing weights some take it as a slight to their integrity.
