Best/worst boxing 'Promo' names for an event
Interested in what your best/worst boxing show header taglines or promo names have been over the years.
Recently I quite like 'Dance with the Devil' for Wood/Lara, and LewIS TysON (Is on highlighted on the poster).
Hated the Calzaghe/Hopkins tag which was something like 'Batlle for the planet earth'

I recall the Holyfield-Toney card with Corrales vs Casamayor 1 on the undercard was billed as "The War on October 4", a little cheesy, but ok. I'm trying to think of some really embarrassingly bad ones.
I have seen a few billed simply as "The Fight" it seems, though I can't say for sure which ones.
I know Mayweather vs Maidana 1 for some reason was billed as "The Moment"
and yes the Lewis-Tyson IS ON thing I remember thinking "Boy they didn't think too hard on that one" when I saw it

"Who's fooling who?" is a famous one - Benn Eubank 1
"Hammer Time" with Katsidis and Mitchell is just hilarious - especially when you look at the poster

IMO it's not even close: "Thrilla In Manila"

Always thought “The Sound and the Fury” was a a cool promo name for Tyson - Holyfield 2, mainly because there was a badass tv trailer that went with it (guess it was a Showtime or HBO thing?). Probably wasn’t as good as I remember tbh, but I remember being super hyped when watching it.

I cringe every time a promoter calls a bout between a Scottish and an English boxer "Battle of Britain"

Rumble in the Jungle.
Was a good fit.
Hearn tried ripping it off with “rage on the Red Sea”
I always liked “Drama in the Bahamas”
Don’t know why.

Re: Best/worst boxing 'Promo' names for an event
Just to be clear: "Thrilla in Manila" is the best ever. It also inspired "The Vanilla Thrilla" as the name for the 1986 Canadian heavyweight title fight between two white guys -- Ken Lakusta and Willie deWit ...

maybe they meant baldomir around mayweathers kids pretty risky indeed
Re: Best/worst boxing 'Promo' names for an event
Dubois vs. Bryan had some ludicrous tagline, something like "The Fight for Freedom". Freedom for who and from what? Perhaps it was both fighters from a Don King contract...

Re: Best/worst boxing 'Promo' names for an event
it was to do with Ukraine.
They did UK, USA and Ukraine anthems IIRC.
The next card has a similar tagline.
