Patterson's weight was like a cruiserweight while Ratliff was the former WBC cruiserweight champion in his career. Would Ratliff box and jab his way for survival from big attacks by Patterson, who would out-box and out-punch on the inside and outside to either take a decision or Patterson stop him late with his good left hook.
