Mike Weaver vs. John Ruiz

Post by scorpio83 »

15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout

In the battle of former WBA Heavyweight Champions, Ruiz would have his moments by jabbing, landing punches and tying Weaver in the early rounds. However, Weaver would find his way by jabbing more, working on the body and countering Ruiz's clinching with left hooks and right hands from the mid to late rounds to either take a decision or stopping him late or would Ruiz kept getting with hugging Weaver to take a decision himself. What do you guys think and who do you got?

Ruiz could maybe hang around a while with his hugging and mugging style, but at some point Weaver is gonna bomb him out. Probably no later than the 6th or 7th round.

Probably you are right. Weaver wasn't very ingenious in terms of boxing, so he would have problems with keeping the Huggin Man at bay, but he was a quite durable guy physically and he could bang, so he would have chances to stop Johnny at another grab attempt.
