That Chin ... David Benavidez

Post by Evander »

He's had that chin hit a number of times and survived.
He does leave it hanging out there.

Gavril dropped Benavidez in the 12th. Bena was matched against some washed up fighters/stiffs. Lol Even Eubank Jr has a better resume than Bena.

There's that chance Benavidez could gas out and create an opportunity for Plant later in the fight if it goes there.

Good Match Up.
Fight is growing on me.
It's true Benevidez leaves his chin hanging out there.

This is a close fight. Would not draw any conclusions just yet. Benavidez showed some anxiety in his outbursts if that means anything.

See how Benevidez got knocked down against Gavril ?
Looked like he tripped over or slipped on something.
He wasn't stunned at all.

I suspect he'll eat Plant alive personally. We'll see.

That the case if I were Plant I'd savvy up on defence for the first half of the fight.

I'm not entirely convinced his chin is always in a safe space, they're going 12 rounds.

I have been trying to pick out moments where Benavidez has been in serious trouble and I can't find them.

I suspect the upcoming Caleb Plant fight is gonna be a breakthrough fight for Benavidez as I see him wrecking Plant in one sided fashion even easier than Canelo did.

We shall see.

Before the 11'th round stoppage judge Dave Moretti had it 97-93 for Canelo. while judge Patricia Morse Jarman had it 96-94 for Canelo, not exactly a one sided affair.

If this turns into a boxing match (jab, hook and move), I can see Plant winning this fight. However, if Benavidez is able to land power punches (and effective counter shots) this could be a short night.

Like you said, "We shall see".

I watched the fight, and I feel like those judges were being particularly generous to Plant. I only had him winning 2 rounds.

It was very clear to me from Round 5 on that he was outmatched. He was kinda hanging in there until then, but this is about the point when it starts to be a runaway for Canelo from here.

Agreed 100%. Plant had zero defense for Canelo's body punches. He just straight up tried to tank them the entire time. Benavidez has hands just as fast as Canelo, and he's bigger and stronger.

Unless Plant has improved exponentially, I see Benavidez having an easy night. It's not like Plant's footwork even troubled Canelo, so it's hard to imagine how he even has a chance here.

He threw first at the press conference and got countered too, writing might have been on the wall back then.

benavidez talking smack is weird to see, very out of character with his usual calm demeanor, makes it come across as putting it on for ppv, which tbf he has reason to

I'm afraid that they may up fighting before the actual fight takes place. Benavidez in particular seems to HATE Caleb Plant with a passion. These guys need to be separated as much as possible before they meet in the ring.

Sounds to me like some fans are hoping DB has a weak chin, and are hoping Plant has a monster punch...even though neither are true.

Nah.
Just exploring the possibilities that's all.
It's what happens in the lead up to all big fights.
I don't have a dog in this and can't wait to see it however long it goes.
