Beterbiev ... Is the book out on him ?

Post by Evander »

Beterbiev
His style let's take a look at it.
He resets himself physically almost every time he's moved out out a favourable position.
Has multiple angles and heights that he'll approach the opponent with but relies heavily on his strength and power.

He’s like a Terminator. Just keeps going till the job’s done. Hard as well, Yarde cracked him a few and he kept coming. Educated pressure too, nothing wild about him.

 I love that!
He does wind up slowly.
What I love is the unhurried, and exacting way he goes about the job of putting guys to bed.
He just doesn't get flustered, even after a KD! He is so economical with his work he should have a 5 star environmental efficiency label on his shorts.
I don't recall another fighter so low key in the ring, and yet he stops everyone.
And no way do I think the book is out on him. And if it was, it would be a boring read- Beterbiev steps in ring, Beterbiev stops opponent, rewind and rewatch to see how the heck it happened

No-one, I just meant he’s controlled in what he does.

No other thoughts on Beterbiev, folks? The only time I've seen him was against Yarde. He looks the business, I have to say. Quite a cool guy as well. Gives a good interview.

I don't think so. If a more classy figher, than Johnson or Yarde, got Beterbiev in the same trouble those did, it could be a far worse situation for Bert. He did look vulnerable on a couple of occasions. While Joyce is indeed like a Juggernaut, who doesn't feel anything. Maybe someone will find a key against Bert, like Ward did against Kovalev. Bivol probably can do it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Callum Smith knock him out inside 6 rounds, he doesn't impress me at all.

His boxing predictions are probably as reliable as his brexit ones.

Beterbiev looks as if he's there to be hit and he's there for the taking all right. I can't remember seeing a top boxer who was so open to being hit, hit hard too.

Apart from Joe Joyce of course.

Many boxing fans have been saying for years that they both look easy to beat but somehow they both still keep winning.

Maybe the key word here is strong.

They're both unusually strong men.

Maybe Sonny Liston strong.

Froch was like that too. We knew he took a great shot because he kept showing he could do it.

Yeah Froch was good.
Couple of questionable fights but he was world class.

Good fighter. Dispatched of gvozdyk, Smith, & yarde with impressive strength. At 38 needs the career definer against Bivol, who is a star himself following the Canelo win.
Special fighter for sure, probably could be outboxed by the slicker champs in history.
