England National Youth Championships

Post by mickey1975 »

Anyone with a bit of spare time over the next few days can catch the live stream on these through a link on England Boxing. Every bout 50-50. Some fantastic kids out including three from a gym near me and two other young lads i know. Infamous BoxRec poster Paul 'Smigga' Smith has his son in a quarter final today as does the cock feeder himself, Kevin Mitchell.

Well, when I regularly say boxing in York is flourishing, which it is, it doesn't appear to be elsewhere. One of our main hopes for superstardom has just won his fourth junior aba title by default with everyone pulling out of the semis because he is in it.... He gets it because he boxed in an earlier round, against a 6'9 schoolboy in the Yorkshires. They also offer cash and hotels for club shows to no avail. He has a fantastic back story and will be a star. A 6'4, 15st black schoolboy raised by middle class white Christian's in a middle class area of York. A case of nature over nurture if ever there was one. Will probably only box internationally from now on. The only lad to beat him, they beat each other twice, signed pro football terms so is lost to the game.
On the same day we have a 20-1 european champion female who again very rarely gets matched. Bribes offered there too.

No, he's 20 odd, going pro after his next bout. He's sparring Franklin now. He spars Frazer Clarke every Friday and has done bits with AJ, Hughie etc. He is black and middle class, though, but not from here. He came up for university.

Rosanna Bycroft is my favourite. Never seen such a switch in in and out of the ring personality.

Arlo? About 24 I think. The young lad I’m on about is called Leo Atang and is 16. He spars Dave Allen now…. He looks like a fully grown man. Absolutely lovely, well brought up kid. Polite to a fault.

Did you see Zac Evans turn pro the other night, the kid Ash had for the elite belt on his debut? The lad he beat that night fought for the central area belt the same weekend. Zacs am record was insane. All elite, 15-3 only lost to 100+ bout internationals.

The kid I was on about has just got into the Europeans semi final. Stopped the Georgian in two round in the first round then gave away about 15kg to a kid from Poland in the quarters. Dropped him and won on points. Some boy for sixteen. Semi on Friday against the home country guy, Romania. All live on YouTube.
