Fell asleep before the Azim fight. Daft that the main event of what was pretty much a prospects card is past 11pm.

Come back Hearn all is forgiven.

I think sky can make a solid comeback.

Parker,Bakolie, hughie, hunter, Frazer, Liam smith, Jack katteral, Kongo, marku, riachpore. It’s not amazing yet, but can make some fun fights out of those guys.

If they can get a few fun cards on then they should be able to lure people over given sky’s media machine allure.

Parker vs hunter would be a headliner.

Hughie vs Bakolie another.

Frazer for British would be a headline and that shiuldent be too far off.

Catteral vs Taylor (if that happens)

Kongo vs marku

Roach poor vs okolie.

Smith vs eubank 2.

And that’s staying mainly in-house, I think it’s more likely given sky has the platform but not the stable they bring in opponents for a lot of these fights (hopefully decent ones)

I don’t remember a time when I’ve been less interested in boxing on Sky.

We had the time with loads of promoters where we had pretty a much a show each week and sometimes two. The quality of a lot of the shows was poor but given the volume we still got many good fights.

Then we got the Matchroom stuff where it seemed, for a while at least, that we got a decent arena show every 2 weeks.

Now we get shows more infrequently it seems. Last night’s show was the first on regular Sky Sports this year and only one in the first 12 weeks of the year. And the quality was average too with a main event that really should have been a show opener. I’m not much of a fan of their Okolie card either.

Boxxer/Sky got off to a really good start last year but this year has seemingly gone the other way. Yet they have more fighters in their stable.

I do wonder if they’ve blown their budget on the Olympians and we have to wait before they get to anything resembling a competitive fight.

It was stupid yesterday having a 5 fight card starting at 8pm. 2 of the 4 undercard fights ended early yet we still got a main event starting gone 11pm. I fell asleep after round 7 of the main. Stupid considering how they’d been pushing that they were going to be doing 9pm main events when Boxxer joined Sky.

I do wonder if they miss Adam Smith. I don’t miss him on the comms as I quite like Andy Clarke but it will help to have someone properly organise things internally at Sky and also do more on the quality control.

Shalom will be like a kid playing Football Manager. Throwing money around like confetti until it’s all gone. He said in an interview the other day when asked about signing Buatsi that they’ve pretty much maxed their budget out.

i wish that huge thread on checkhookboxing going into detail about shalom's past business ventures and claims was still up lol. made quite the case that he was a total fraud who trickstered his way into this position, will be interesting to see how it works out longer term, you'd think with sky's backing they should be doing better

Yeah and I saw the video of his call with Billy Joe where he said Sky had f’d him and it gave the impression he was talking about money.

Sky genuinely couldn’t have supported Boxxer more last year. Loads of stuff on social and putting most of the shows on Showcase to try and maximise the audience.

The signs where there early on when Hearn said he couldnt get near the offers sky where making. Remember Smith was well involved at that time with the sky machine.

Ironically Hearn has been slated for over paying during his early days at DAZN. It seems that Shalom and Smith have done the exact same thing, only most of their budget has gone on none ticket sellers and fresh pro's (who are going to need years to be built up)

Get used to the types of shows you saw last night. Anything decent is going on PPV.

Shalom gets a bit of a pass because he’s not Hearn and people want to make out Sky are better without Hearn but in reality he talks just as much bollocks but about far lesser fighters, the likes of Fraser Clarke and Kariss whatever her face is. He seems to have based his whole strategy on Azim and the Olympians but they’ll need years.

I’d say Boxxer are comfortably bottom of the big 3 pile behind Matchroom and Queensberry and most of Channel 5’s main events have been better.

boxxer is worse than dazn at the moment. last nights cards are alright. fights like sims and chelli and denny vs pauls was better on paper. still not as good as hearn was with sky but that wasn't great either. saying that boxxer if i recall is better than when hearn first started.

I don't mind low-quality, I mind crap fights.

That's the problem for me.
I'd rather watch Shannon Courtenay bringing it (and getting beaten up!) or rubbish Alen Babic, than a lot of the better quality main events.

Let’s not forget Shalom’s obsession with women’s boxing…. The Dubois fight was embarrassing last night.

Azim got much needed rounds and learn a lot but that wasnt a main event type fight. should have been a chief support to a bigger name.

Was a picture of him at a show a few months surrounded by female fighters like he was Hugh Hefner or something.

Yeah I still can't work out where he came from or who is bankrolling him - there must be someone with good connections behind the scenes.

A couple of years ago he had a few 2 bob businesses to do with student nights or something and the week after he is signing deals with Sky - it doesn't add up or make sense.

He looks a slimy weasel as well.

By his own words, he was running student nights at Uni and selling fast food, decided he wanted to get into boxing then lands the Sky deal despite having no stable and very limited experience. He did a show or 2 at an ice rink in Altrincham and some Prizefighter-type tournaments then suddenly Sky decide he’s the man for the job. Yeah right.

Lots of rumours - rich & powerful Jewish family, took a loan off Kinahan etc. There was an IFL interview (now deleted) where he mentions going to the Middle East and meeting an advisor who was instrumental in getting him into boxing and said that this person was helping advise him.

Yeah makes sense.

I am sure Sky did their due dilligance and it would all pass financial fair play rules etc etc (if there were any!) .......

Sky and Boxxer have done a terrible job in raising the profile of their fighters. Hearn used to be everywhere with his fighters. Bar Okollie and Riakphore a few weeks ago, where have we seen the likes of Whittaker, Frazier, Dubois, Catterall etc?

They spunked their load on Brook vs Khan and haven't capitalised.

To be fair, I think the boxing demographic has changed...We care about the likes of Whittaker, Caterall etc... but does the average lay fan? I think Eddie is experiencing something similar as most of his interviews now are about Connor or AJ....what is happening with Campbell Hatton as an example. I think bringing on new fighters to be stars is trickier than it used to be.
