How much cash?

Post by Matchfixer »

Just reading about Kelly fighting Haye and how he might have got £10k for it.

It got me thinking how much would you accept to face a big hitter (Haye being one example) as a non-boxer in the knowledge they could hit you as hard as they like?

I know this is a bit hypothetical to say the least but I would be petrified and probably would not go in for any money. Kelly looked worried and he's a pro boxer!

Apologies if this is a bit too much like a "current scene" thread I just want to hear how brave you lot are!

I wouldn't go in with a big hitter for any money. Not unless I'd trained for six months and only had to survive for about 30 seconds. Even then I probably wouldn't - how much would a lifetime of 24 hour care cost, anyway?!

And not if he was a Mexican or Thai straw-weight, I might add.

A Scandinavian straw-weight, a French one even, I'd take my chances...

I wonder what being hit by a big punching strawweight would be like, incidentally.

Comparable to being hit by a fly swatter at 100 mph? would you go down, or just go 'Ow'

When i started Amatuer boxing, at a small club there were just 4 boxers there.

I was a light welter, the next was a lightmiddle with a build and style like Tony Sibson, the other 2 were Heavys.

Used to get battered quite alot and they were taking it easy.

So to go in with a top pro , you wouldn't last long, and the thing is getting sparked isn't the worst feeling in the world. so i rekon a few grand would do me.

Actually, a straweight would probably kick fornicate out of me, in a streetfight you could just pick him up and mash him into the ground, but in the ring you'd get hit 20 times before you knew the fight had started. Mind you, might have trouble hitting my chin, but the old ribs and liver would get a right kicking.

I had a fight as a teenager with my mate Des, who weighed about 7 Stone, I was about 12 stsone then, and he was certainly holding his own and he wasn't even boxing.
