I dunno about Ruddock (who hasn't scored a decent win since 1992), but Toney isn't in any condition brain-wise to ever fight again. They'd be better off coaching or something.

I don't even want to think about how Toney's post fight interview might sound. Will require subtitles for sure.

Thank god it's only an exhibition.
Re: James Toney vs. Donovan 'Razor' Ruddock | Triller Exhibition - November 11, 2023
I don't understand the point of this.
How could this possibly make money?
I mean Toney is one of my all time favorite fighters, and I wouldn't watch this for free. So who's the audience?

He's probably gonna need to hire a nurse to wipe his ass 2-3 years earlier due to the damage from his fight. So, in the long run, he's losing big money.

Reminder of what James Toney's speech sounds like now

You answered your own question, it is definitely about money but you are right too in saying it won't make much.

The 58th anniversary of Ali vs Sonny Liston was a couple of days ago and Razor Ruddock was around in those days because he is 59.
That provides a bit of perspective on how ancient Ruddock really is and why he shouldn't be going anywhere near a boxing ring anymore.

I know last year James Toney was supposed to fight Jeremy Williams in an exhibition but it fell through. I don't mind seeing older fighters compete against each other but in the case of James Toney he shouldn't be allowed to do so.

Sadly, Toney was obviously damaged a long time ago. I haven't heard a recent interview from him but I could barely understand him 10 years ago, probably longer.

Exhibitions between old washed up brain damaged grandfathers should stop. First Holyfield and then Roy Jones Jr. and now this sh1te? Just hang them up, nothing left to prove.

Jesus, it's painful to watch, you can see that his tongue is basically immobile, and when he talks his mouth is constantly full of saliva. He canot shape any sounds at all, other than by opening and closing his mouth.

I saw a short interview with him last year and noticed how bad his speech was. I mean, it was never news reader perfect, but he was almost intelligible and talked around in a circle with just some buzz words and phrases like Wilder does.
This was about August last year. This clip he is definitely a bit worse.
How can this be sanctioned or at least not legally permitted. Him getting hit in the head should be a criminal matter if it isn't a sanctioned sporting event.

I could kind of tell what Toney was trying say but he is no longer capable of saying it. Tragic, and from what I have seen of boxing inflicted brain injury, he will be luck to see 60.

He seems to know what he's saying, but he's lost the motor coordination to form the words properly.Redback Rasta wrote: ↑26 May 2023, 18:14 I could kind of tell what Toney was trying say but he is no longer capable of saying it. Another circus performance. Boxing is a joke now.
No wonder the sport's dying. It just seems to exist now to give a bunch of coked up, pissed up losers in rented, badly-fitting Peaky Blinders style suits to have a night out and a fight afterwards.
Pop any shit on the cards--the mouth breathing gastropods will still lap it up.

I agree. It's seen as easy money now and most ex-fighters from that era are probably broke and need money. Ruddock tried a comeback in 2015 which was 14 years after he retired and he looked dire then. His peak was around 1991/92 so over 30 years ago, crazy when you think about it.tigermoth87 wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 06:32 Another circus performance. Boxing is a joke now.

An exhibition in the nursing house?
Re: James Toney vs. Donovan 'Razor' Ruddock | Triller Exhibition - November 11, 2023
That was absolutely terrible!
It was an 8-2 opponent who was slower than a very slow thing.
And the ref gave Razor a nice long recovery time after the first KD.
Also, how many rounds is a Canadian title fight?? I'm guessing not 8? That is fixed for sure. Just make it 8, Razor is old...
