Reviewing the next gen British heavies ...

Post by funso banjo baby »

Fisher is strong but his lack of mobility will find him exposed at the next level. Way too much posing. Armstrong moved fast for such a big guy and for some reason Fisher seemed out of sorts at times as a result. Big finish though.

Solomon Dacres is an odd one. He's fighting 10 rounders already and against totally durable types like Thompson. That said, he seems extremely lethargic and doesn't have any kind of power.

Matty Harris was exposed in his last fight. Serious lack of conditioning. Embarrassing.

Frazer Clarke is being hyped up in the same way as Dubois. I expect him to KO Dave Allen inside three, anything else isn't acceptable.

David Adeleye is definitely a big puncher but I'd resist calling out Wardley who would destroy him at this stage.

Jamie Tshikeva needs to show a bit more next fight

Haven't seen too much of Jolly but he seems ok

Also haven't bothered to watch any moses itauma yet. Why is it just cos he's 18 he gets to fight 5 or 6 times a year? Why can't they all fight that regularly ? :o

Saying less than a 3 round KO of Dave Allen is unacceptable is insane. He might get it. But no one has dinted Allen early, why would you expect Clarke to?

Couple more in the mix Tommy Welch who is 12 - 0 & one under the radar Courtney Bennett who could be the dark horse of the division.

I think Fisher might go a bit further than some might think. We shall see.

Someone else has mentioned Welch and I’d add Ignatius and Moses Jolly who are on the way up.

I personally see Sol Dacres beating Adeleye, Clarke and Wardley but possibly not looking the most exciting doing it.

On the evidence of his last fight I can see Fisher going further than I first thought as his jab is very good at domestic level and he obviously hits like a train if he lands.

Moses Itauma won't get past British level IMO.

Frazer is the best of a bad bunch IMO.

Dacres seems the most comfortable at the moment, I don't think he's lost more than 3 or 4 rounds sicne he turned pro which isnt bad when his fights alll got he distance which in itself is another problem.

I suspect wardley about to fine his limit.

Delicious Orie? Looked great in Commonwealths.

Clarke got the pedigree and I haven’t even heard of some of the others.

Let’s find out eh?

Adeley is not good.

Wardly is C grade wilder.

Fisher is British babic

Big fraze just doesn’t feel like he will convert to the pros great.

Dacres has skills but looks disinterested and pillow fisted.

Moses should not rush.

DDD is about to take a beating, but should bounce back well if he wants.

Gorman has good skills but just doesn’t seem fit or strong enough.

Higher fury is waiting on his man strength

Lot of Guys can be fun and aside from my crippling negativity I quite like watching all of them, but I’m not seeing a great deal of saviours there. DDD and Hughie probably have the best chance at being world champs on the next 5 years… not saying it’s a great chance…

I can’t see any of the guys listed getting much further than European level but I’d have said the same about Tyson Fury when he was punching himself in the face early in his career.

Dacres has the most talent but doesn’t look for a finish which will hold him back. His contract with Matchroom is up too so will be interesting to see where he goes. I’d expect Sky so they can look to do something with Clarke/TKV.

Wardley and Fisher are entertaining guys but Fisher lacks the athleticism to go far whilst Wardley will probably lose to the first good mover he fights. I’m interested to see how far they go though.

Adeleye should have lost against Sokolowski but since then Frank has done one of his favourite moves and matched him against guys with pretty records but not particularly good (like Dubois fought plenty of early on). Him against Wardley is a real good fight that hopefully we see. I think Wardley will win but it’s a fun one.

When hughie gets his man strength he'll be untouchable in his nursing home.

Yeah I can’t see Adeleye beating Wardley.

Wouldn’t surprise me if it ends up being a 12 round version of Ignatius vs Geordie Drago which we saw a few weeks ago. Meaning one guy keeps flailing in and missing and taking a cuffing untidy counter and that being repeated 6 times a round with the guy who falls in also taking 4 or 5 other half decent shots in the round meaning while you’re bored you have to give the round to one guy. And that repeating itself for just over three quarters of the rounds. Resulting in a Wardley UD win.

I refuse to talk about Hughie and Gorman. Both fight once a year in warm ups. I joked at the end of Huggies last fight ‘so when’s the next warm up’ and I was right ffs.

Wardley is rarely in a bad fight. If he’s getting outboxed (like he was against Gorman) then I can just see him going hard for the KO. Seems the type to bite down on his gumshield and go for it.

Gorman may be the tidiest boxer out of the lot but doesn’t seem to have the heart for it or take his training seriously enough.

I have this image of Gorman as someone who just turns fights down that are actually of his level and whos sat there chasing European title fights or fights of that high a level even tho he's never been there. Dacres has said he's had countless guys turn down English title fights against him and they include Jamie TKV, Drago (before he fought Ignatius) and I bet Gorman is in there. I mean you get knocked out in a British title challenge, surely the best way to get straight back in there is fight the English champ.

I also think Nick Campbell will get himself back into some sort of mix as well. Yeah losing to Geordie Drago looks far from great but I think he was boxing ok before getting caught hard. And he's also a genuine 6ft6+ which will make him tough to get the better of at that level.
