He could box for sure and his speed helped.

He was doing really well against Canelo.

I feel after that, he took some time off and from there he declined more.

Don’t blame him for the Caneo bout.

He was chasing big money fights for a few years leading up to that especially with FMJ. He never gave it him, so he took on Canelo instead.

You take what you can in the business.

Legacy is one thing, but it’s a business too. It’s about making money.

We all know Khan’s money issues. It’s been documented many times.

He rinsed whatever paydays he could have before fighting Brook.

Good World champ and elite? Yes. (Maidana fight a stand out).
Great for British Boxing ? Yes. He opened many doors and made money for lots of people (pre-AH)

The drug fail though. Leaves a bad stain on any legacy he might have had. People will always ask now. Was he on it from the start?

Better as an amateur than a professional. The Craig Watson amateur fight did expose a frailty that never really went away. Definitely peaked in the Maidana fight. The handspeed was out of this world, but the power was average and the chin fairly poor. But on his day a decent world champion, who needed to be matched carefully to get the best out of him. Great against Kotelnik. Nice last amateur fight against the ageing Mario Kindelán.

Peak Hatton probably would have done a number on him. Possibly even to the extent of how Hatton manhandled Stephen Smith.

Not sure Khan was ever in P4P top 10, his chin was just too awful. Usually in good exciting fights though, and sought out top opposition, so lots of credit to him for that.

Very good fighter who took on the best, the Maindana win has aged very well and it was a cracker of a fight.

Never took to him, but you can't knock his balls. Went and gave it a go with everyone. Boxed superbly against Alvarez before the killer blow. Super fast in his prime and never in a boring fight.

With regards to Hatton - he was alright, just very well matched and extremely overrated. Not really thought much about what would happen if they fought. They were never at the same level at the same time. I personally think Hatton would struggle with the speed and aggression. I'll admit he looked the part knocking over the likes of an ancient Freddie Pendleton, John Bailey and Stephen Smith though. Kostya was done by the time they fought.

Good career, very good fighter, a ways short of greatness, brave, and made the most of his significant physical gifts.

Sadly, he was also as thick as a bucketful of tripe, and had the ring iq of a weeble, almost always lost once hurt as he tended to go for broke as he lacked the savvy or instincts to survive and adapt.
