Jay McFarlane
He won the Scottish title against a fancied up and comer in the last week or so.
I said after he lost to Carty that I hoped he wouldn’t be seen again as he doesn’t seem to train hard enough, but what do people reckon? He’s obviously good to watch as his fight with Nick Campbell was a barnstormer. Will he be fed to Johnny Fisher to allow Fisher to get further up the British rankings and get more experience in?

I like watching McFarlane, never in the best of shape but at least he's not cagey, always comes for a scrap

Me too. He's now actual won two Scottish titles, I know they're not commonly fought for belts but good memories to have on to say he was a two weight national champ. Amazing that he can weigh in at 200lbs and then fight at 280lbs.handsofstone wrote: ↑15 Sep 2023, 15:21 I like watching McFarlane, never in the best of shape but at least he's not cagey, always comes for a scrap
He's got an interesting story, in care, mum sent down for drugs while he was young, clearly a chaotic upbringing. He's self effacing, I hope he fights on telly again I like watching him.
He seemed to have some stability when he was living and training with Dave Allen.

Should rematch nick campbell, that was an interesting fight first time round and decent Scottish title defence.

i thought jay deserved the win over mark bennett in the boxxxer tournament as well. looks like a guy whose form and condition are all over the place. if he;'s serious he's a good test at an area level

I thought it was close and if he'd trained a lot would have been a lot easier. I like Jay. Hope Kynoch gets him some good fights on tv, I think two weight national title is marketable.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑16 Sep 2023, 23:44 i thought jay deserved the win over mark bennett in the boxxxer tournament as well. looks like a guy whose form and condition are all over the place. if he;'s serious he's a good test at an area level

Just saw he's on BKFC and lost in a round to Mick Terrill. Looked really out of shape.

It was not good he kind of quit. His upbringing was horrendous so it makes sense how haphazard he is as an adult. Lost soul is Jay.Fearful_Freddie wrote: ↑05 Apr 2026, 16:01 Just saw he's on BKFC and lost in a round to Mick Terrill. Looked really out of shape.

It’s only from what I’ve read and listened to. His Ma got sent down for something to do with drugs while they were abroad iirc and he ended up in the care system. He was living in Donny for a bit with Dave Allen.MasterG wrote: ↑06 Apr 2026, 02:01Can you tell us a bit more about his background Sean?SeanBrennan wrote: ↑05 Apr 2026, 18:29It was not good he kind of quit. Sorry daft question, I knew he was Scottish but thought he might have had Donny connections.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑06 Apr 2026, 05:19No mate ScottishMasterG wrote: ↑06 Apr 2026, 05:18Interesting. Is he a Donny lad?SeanBrennan wrote: ↑06 Apr 2026, 05:17

It was a strange bk fight at Newcastle. Did he become blind or something?
I'm guessing his fighting days, gloves on or off are over.
