Jesus Alejandro Ramos Jr vs Erickson Lubin - Was Ramos Robbed?

Post by Perkin Warbeck »

How did you score the fight between Ramos and Lubin?

I was a bit disappointed in Ramos in rounds 9 and 10, but still he won the fight wide 117-111.

Was it a robbery? I think it definitely was. Look at the punch stats!!!

Judge Patricia Morse Jarman somehow had it 117-111 for Lubin in the controversial junior middleweight bout; judge John McKaie had it 116-112; and judge Chris Migliore had it 115-113.

Jarman gave Lubin the last six rounds, and Migliore five of the last six, including the 11th, when Ramos outlanded Lubin 11/46 (23.9%) to 3/32 (9.4%).

Maybe Ramos should have won… but I just dont have much sympathy for a guy that really didn’t try to do much the last 4 rounds.

I was disappointed by everything in this fight. Lubin seemed to do almost nothing for at least two thirds of the fight (I don't know how reliable is Compubox but just watching the fight I was thinking Ramos was throwing much more). Ramos never made any change in his gameplan so the fight was a bit boring and Ramos never showed any intent to be spectacular and catch the judges eyes. The result was a disappointment since I believed Ramos won, but all in all I am disappointed by the whole fight. It was an eliminator, and for me no one showed world class qualities. What surprises me the most is that Ramos was almost okay with the decision. He should have been convinced he won, and even himself wasn't. It is almost as if the fight has been pre-arranged, and that Ramos knew it. SO he did the job, with no passion, knowing that in the end he would lose (but receive a good paycheck).

Very bad decision in my view; however, I'd like to watch it again because I'm reading more and more people who disagree.
