Fury vs Ngannou would be an intriguing fight on kick-boxing rules! How Fury would do in that type of fight ?

Imo it would be more fair to see a legit "hybrid fight" betwwen a top pro boxer and a top pro mma fighter on stand up striking rules like kickboxing than just on boxing rules wich clearly advantage the boxer.

How "greedy belly" would do against Ngannou in a 5 rounds kickboxing match ?

I'm not sure if Fury would be able to handle kicks well. It'd probably be more mutually fair if they allowed punches, takedowns, and submissions; but no standing kicks, knees, or elbows. The boxing skillset is just not very good if you can't defend leg kicks.

Saw it. Inoki had to kick Ali only from staying on the ground. No stand-up leg kicking. Those were the rules. If Inoki would've lowkicked Ali from a stand up position then Ali would've been severely injured.

Indeed a boxer is very vulnerable to leg kicks. But imo this would be a legit hybrid fight between a boxer and a mma fighter. Just stand-up striking.

Well, that would be interesting. There are lots of variations of leg kicks above the waist but the boxer would have a better chance to defend himself.

Ngannou almost never kicks. I don't think I've seen him kick once that I can recall.

I'm sure he trains kicking a lot and just never uses them, so he would still gain an advantage, but it might not change things drastically in the ring.

It's also absolutely pointless from a sporting perspective. No matter how good you might be in one discipline you'll never be a world champion in both.

It's more than hard enough to manage it in one, isn't it?

I doubt whether even someone like Bruce Lee would have gone more than a few rounds boxing someone like Naoya Inoue.

It's also like comparing chalk and cheese for everyone apart the simply curious. Even that Ali v Inoki matchup where they tried to level the playing field a little ended up in a fiasco.

Ali never bothered trying to repeat that painful experience and must have regretted it deeply afterwards.

Besides, apart from those starry eyed fans, who needs this nonsense when there's always plenty of great boxing matchups to be made?
