Joe Frazier vs. Gerry Cooney

Post by scorpio83 »

15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout

Either Prime Smokin' Joe outwork Prime Cooney by bobbing and weaving through Cooney's jabs and left hooks with heavy body punches including his big left hooks that forced Cooney to hold him for survival as Frazier take a decision or would Frazier blast Cooney out with his big left hook in 12 rounds. What do you guys think and who do you got?

Frazier would overwhelm and stop Cooney in two rounds, much the same as he did to Bob Foster. Gerry's lack of durability and poor defense would doom him against Frazier, who'd fight like a bulldog smelling blood.

The best Cooney might accomplish - and this is very iffy - would be to floor Smokin' Joe with a powerful left-hook. Gerry had the KO power to do so. But if it happened, Frazier would get up quickly and finish Cooney off.

Frazier knocks out Cooney in the 3rd or 4th round.

Frazier wins this but it will take 5-7 rounds before he takes out a peak Cooney.
