Correct Benny Goldberg's Record: Need Nov/1943 Cover KNOCKOUT Boxing and Wrestling Magazine

Post by samsuramanee »

I am desperately trying to correct the boxing record of Bennie (Benny) Goldberg. It is critical I make contact with Tracy Callis, and who ever has received the boxing collection of dearly departed JJ Johnston, which contains the cover of the Nov/1943 Knockout Boxing and Wrestling magazine, which appeared in Mr. Callis' important work "Boxing in Los Angeles" which contains the only known copy of that cover (however it did not include the caption which disclose Benny's record going into the Ortiz-Goldberg title fight was 46-0

Do you have any proof that the existing record is incorrect...can you please post the additional results so they can be verified? The cover of a magazine without any backup information does not count as reliable information. We already know that a number of his claims for his amateur career were incorrect, so it is hard to believe that so many fights could be missing from his professional career.

Hello Bob,
I think it will interest you to know, I am now involved in a 2nd effort appeal to BOXREC (and Cyber Boxing Zone) to "update" for corrections to my father Bennie (Benny) Goldberg's career boxing history, an effort to save my dad's history by BOXREC (and Cyber Boxing Zone), the Goldberg family, even while seeking corrections,, is an effort by BOXREC (and Cyber Boxing Zone). we gratefully appreciate and support.

As to how this ties to you. During that first effort, which began with my post on Oct 19, 2023 on BOXREC, to which your Oct 22, 2023 reply (one I never saw til now) contains both reasoning I held at the time I now agree with you was flawed, and which other boxing authorities also found flawed, and have pointed out leave my first effort to "upgrade" Benny's record unpersuasive.

However, taking that advice as to what was needed to successfully persuade for change, to heart and enacting them, I have come to discover what you and they indicate is needed to make the changes requested.

Therefore, I wonder if you would like to see, and then voice your opinions on my new findings?
Respectfully, Sam Goldberg
