Bugner and Lyle were at the peak of their careers in 1974 and 1975. Had they fought then, who would have won and why?
My guess is that it's an even fight. I'm certain it would go to the scorecards. Bugner could win if he boxes from center ring and jabs effectively. Lyle could win if he cuts the ring off and forces Joe to the ropes.
I don't think their 1977 match tells us much, as both guys fought beneath their ability level on that day.
