12 rounds, 160lbs.
I actually found this bout interesting due to it potentially having some variables.
At Middleweight, Martinez is more accomplished. Stylistically, he also could've been a nasty adversary for Tito.
But minus the Williams II and Dzinziruk fights, Martinez was getting caught in almost every title bout. Dropped against Williams, Pavlik, Macklin, Chavez and Murray.
Even at middleweight, Trinidad is a harder puncher than some of these guys.
Martinez wasn't a huge middleweight himself. Tito would still have some height and reach advantage over him.
So, let's fantasize a bit. Martinez of 2010-2012 against Tito from the Joppy fight.
How it goes?

Martinez by decision.

Martinez by UD. It's really a matchup between two blown-up welterweights, but Martinez has more of a track record at middleweight. He might get dropped but I think he outboxes Trinidad

A thrilling bout no doubt.
I'd pick Martinez to win more rounds and earn the nod, via unanimous decision.
6-4-2 decision win.
Both would likely score knockdowns on one another, in the first 5 rounds. A real fire fight in the early goings.

I'd pick Martinez to win a decision in a terrific fight with lots of dramatic moments. I can see this one being a Fight of the Year type battle.

Tito by KO

Sergio @ MW was a classy fighter, with slickness and decent power, when he wanted it.
Apart from his numerous great wins, I remember him schooling Richard 'The Secret' Williams twice, who was a dangerous guy, on the up.
Sergio by UD. At WW, I feel, it might be different.

Wasn't that Williams fight the one that took place in the UK? I believe, that was before Martinez got signed by Lou Dibella. I think, I'll relive this fight today. Thanks for reminding me of it. I haven't seen much of those pre-Bunema fights, when Martinez was based in Europe.NazNaci1 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2023, 18:38 Sergio @ MW was a classy fighter, with slickness and decent power, when he wanted it.
